Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Every time he fires a wrist shot, you can watch the stick bend like crazy, they do a slow-mo of it in the video.

The Avs team will REALLY miss him...he's an honest-to-God Good Egg. I wish more professional athletes were made like this guy. He's really humble (not faking it for the cameras) AND he gives back to the community in a big way. Too bad that he didn't get to finish his last season. Fuggin' snowblowers, anyway.

I can imagine that the stupid snowblower will go down as one of his all time regrettable dumbass moments.

And yeah, he is really a good guy, from everything I've heard of him around Denver, no one has ever had anything bad to say about the dude.

And when he handed the cup straight over to Ray Bourque in 2001? 100% class. That was a tear jerking moment.

I miss the holy hell out of Forsberg, too. Too bad the guy turned into glass, coz he was AMAZING.

It will be interesting to see who's front office Sakic moves into, now. Forsberg is still getting some playing over in Sweden (why, I don't know). But Ray is looking for a team to coach. For a while, the Avs were giving Ray and Roi a look for that position.

I remember that, I was actually in a bar in Boston watching that game. You want to talk about tears being shed, I was a little embarrased for some of those guys after a while...

I bet man. Hometown hero finally gets to hoist the cup, but not with Boston? Sheeeit. All sorts of mixed emotions there.

I was talking to a friend last night, and I think that if Sakic doesn't end up coaching, he'll try to make one comeback. (Assuming his back doesn't get any worse.) If he ends up as a coach somewhere, then forget about it.

And Forsberg got a little play over in Sweden, but to my knowledge that was like, 3 or 4 games. I could be wrong, though.

Sad to see him go. Sakic, Yzerman, Lemieux, Chelios are all kind of cut from the same sort of cloth. They let their performance on the ice do the talking. His "wrister" from just inside the blue line was something to behold. Even if it didn't go in, you could just see how rattled the opposing goalie became after it was unleashed. Helluva career and hockey just took a serious hit by losing one of its most watchable players.
