Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

If you cannot Debauch because you get an IP blacklist error, try Debauching again time. It may work immediately, it may take a few attempts. It will work eventually, I don't think I had to click debauch more than three times. Someone is overzealous at our hosting company, but only on the first couple of attempts.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.
How do we know who is or isn't an unregistered user?
By forcing anyone who wants in to Log In.
Is that annoying?
Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

Anyone in Oklahoma City?

I'll be going to Oklahoma City on Thursday, May 25th to see one of my favorite bands, 30 Seconds To Mars, in concert. The concert will be at some place called the Bricktown Brewery. I'll be in OKC through Saturday morning.

If there's any UTMCr's in the area, perhaps we could meat for a brew? looking for something to do friday and friday evening. 8)

Shit. I'll be passing through there a few days later while I'm helping my bro-in-law drive back east from Los Angeles. Spraypaint a bar-and-bomb somewhere prominent over the highway where I'll see it (remember, I'll be heading east, so don't paint it on the westbound side!)

Hey, looks like I'm the local chapter of UTMC!

Bricktown Brewery. Last show I caught there was Reverend Horton Heat with Splitlip Rayfield. The beer they make there is tasty, but it's still 3.2% Oklahoma watered down piss.

I'm not familiar with 30STM, but the music on their site sounds pretty emo. I was really hoping for something like Man... or Astro Man? with a name like that. Alas...

Me and another guy from work went their last summer when we down in OK city doing som DB conversion work....Good ribs, good beer (didn't taste weak)...really good service...the manager came over to the table and gave us free beers, I guess because he thought we were waiting too long for our food...(we were sitting there for maybe 5 or 10 minutes drinking and shooting the shit) ...but who are we to turn down free beer?

The entire Bricktown area was pretty much empty...actually the entire city center seemed pretty much devoid of human life...seemed like you could sit in the middle of the road and not worry about traffic...I guess everybody was in the tunnels that run between the buildings......and that's when we were attacked by the C.H.U.D.s...but that is another story....
