Her father is understandably proud.

Very nice.

I can't wait 'till my boy is old enough to start training.

Congrats! My daughter and I are gearing up for our purple-belt tests. My son already got his (but he doesn't get to learn all the REALLY cool stuff yet).

Good on her and I hope she keeps it up!

My son is 3rd kyu and I am 1st kyu, it'll be another year of brutality before I test for my black belt. Martial arts are good for ya on many levels.
CONGRATS! (bows.)

Congrats.
I myself am a high brown, injuries keep holding me back.
My oldest daughter (10) is a brown belt and my youngst son is a high green.

I the best is when they spar, they are all smiles.

a link to a photo gallery of their first tournament.
Charlie won his age and rank, Cecilia took second and my oldest son.... he got schooled and learned a valuable lesson about the need to practice.

Too cool.
And kudos to you for raising a competent, confident, strong young lady.

That is jangleplatz!

The stuff I play with now I don't want my five year old to learn yet, so I'm shopping for a competent "kick-punch" school that isn't tournament driven, at least until later ages. We have one school here that aggressively point-spars kids five and up. I don't see that as a good thing. Only problem with the local Tae-Kwon-Do guy is I have dealt too much with him in real life to trust him with my kid.
Anyone have any resources on training your own kids?
