In that second one, at about 35 seconds in, that canvas creature's schlong is hanging out. What's it rated?

So, it's basically the Matrix without the whole metaphysical what-is-real-and-what-isn't stuff but with puppets. Okay...

9 actually looks cool, at the very least on a visual level, 2012 just looks flat out retarded.

I remember seeing 9 in it's prototype form in an animation festival several years ago- I think there was no dialog...

Anyone else remember this?

I do, it was good, but only a short film version.

to be honest, the cgi effects for 2012 were astonishingly well-done as viewed on the wide screen.
seriously.

in fact, if it weren't for the opening scenes in harry potter i would say that harry was upstaged by those two trailers.

incidentally, who remembers the black and white(could have been color, but my folks had a b&w TV) film ages ago with an end of the world scenario and a rocket ship into space? i think 2012 may be a remake of that.

My issue is that the effects people put up big flashy explosions and people looooove it, but underlying it is a combined element of spectacle for spectacle sake and intense laziness. For someone that doesn't know how buildings work that shot in Rome of a toppled dome practically skiing across a plaza over people might be impressive, but it made me want to walk out of the trailer.

That and disaster films are just done to fucking death.

Physics? Physics is teh ghey, don't worry about them.
Honestly I cannot deal with people that get on my case for not enjoying a "popcorn" movie, "Hey man, its not suposed to be real, its supposed to be fun." Fuck that, they can make it look real if they want to, and it would make for an overall better film. See Xfmrs 2 as a perfect example of missing the mark in favor of flash.
