HER DIARY:

Tonight, I thought my husband was acting weird..

We had made plans to meet at a bar to have a drink.
I was shopping with my friends all day long, so I thought he was upset at the fact that I was a bit late, but he made no comment on it.

Conversation wasn't flowing, so I suggested that we go somewhere quiet so we could talk.
He agreed, but he didn't say much.
I asked him what was wrong; he said, 'Nothing.'
I asked him if it was my fault that he was upset.
He said he wasn't upset, that it had nothing to do with me, and not to worry about it.

On the way home, I told him that I loved him.
He smiled slightly, and kept driving.
I can't explain his behavior.

I don't know why he didn't say, 'I love you, too.'
When we got home, I felt as if I had lost him completely, as if he wanted nothing to do with me anymore.
He just sat there quietly, and watched TV.
He continued to seem distant and absent.

Finally, with silence all around us, I decided to go to bed.
About 15 minutes later, he came to bed.
To my surprise, he responded to my caress, and we made love.
But I still felt that he was distracted, and his thoughts were somewhere else.
He fell asleep – I cried. I don't know what to do.
I'm almost sure that his thoughts are with someone else.
My life is a disaster.

No one above said it was offensive only to women.

well, generally speaking, guys laughing and girls puking gives a small clue on how a joke is recieved, but I may i'm the one being sexist.

My wife laughed at it and the buttons and switches and dials thing. But I think she got the most kick out of the "I'm not upset, it's not you" line because I've used it more than once on her.

My wife laughed her ass off.

To everyone:
I was NOT offended in any way, shape, or form by this jokel - I thought it was really funny actually.

Although I don't keep a diary, I have, in the past 10 years, played out similar scenarios in my own relationship with Nate - where I over analyze something that Nate has or hasn't said or done and I assume the worst case scenario.

I was simply "adding to the group puke" because I thought it was in jest, not because I had serious issue with the original post.

@ DerGolgo - I'm FRENCH and POLISH and IRISH - so I can be one of the official ambassadors for truly tasteless ethnic jokes. LOL
I don't know if you ever saw any episodes of "All In The Family" - a TV show from the 1970s here in America who's entire script was one ethnic/racial slur after another. I remember one very controversial episode where Sammy Davis Jr. was a guest star and he kissed Archie Bunker (the star of the show played by Carol O'Connor) on his cheek. Of course Archie Bunker was almost paralyzed by fear when this happened because he was such a hypocritical homophobic racist.

Of course, you reacted just as anyone who has told such a joke in disapproving company does....try to defend themselves by complaining that the people who did not like it should lighten up.

You can also tell some jokes about how American Indians are stupid, African Americans are violent, Hispanics are lazy, or other such things that are considered "stereotypical" of a sub-set of humans.....why should playing on stereotypes of the two sexes be any more appropriate?

I don't know about indian humor, but it seems like jews have made a good social use of theirs.

As far as offensive jokes go, I find this one to be relatively harmless. Not entirely, but relatively. It only works in the context of the modern cultural image where women are obsessed with the minutiae of relationships yet are unwilling to communicate this clearly to men, while men are about as complicated and sensitive as a lump hammer. Compared to the kinds of jokes that were okay to be made on TV only a generation or so ago (I recently watched the 1979 issue of the annual BBC blooper-reel program. Even I was shocked by the sheer number of exposed female breasts and the way they were displayed and commented on between segments and in the segments themselves. And we have orange-juice adverts with lesbians over here! Or so I'm told.). Any British show from the 70s or before that featured women seemed to feature them exclusively for titillation or ridiculously crude sex- and female-ineptitude-jokes. We have come a long way. And another generation or so from now this joke will be indecipherable to the young and a lot of the middle-aged. So it's okay to complain, because otherwise nothing will change, but comparing this joke to the truly sickening, disgusting racist stuff is a wee little bit over the top.

it's just funny that women here responded offended by "no, we girls are never like that" rather than laughing saying "yes some of you guys are sometimes like that"
I guess it's all a matter of perspective and those who are not offended had the chance to grow up and live in a friendly environment where their individuality did not suffer from the judgment of others.

LMAO! I remember seeing that Fam guy. Its amazing to me how the gender war rages on, and how guys generally joke about it, and women just seem to want to cut our balls off when ever they get the chance.
And as if guys have no feelings, this one keeps getting thrown on the fire, I have the same feeling as women, but I own and control them as much as possible (until Im drunk and some dude grabs a sisters ass) if just to avoid having to use my feelings as an excuse for not handling some situation properly.
