Wife just got laid off. Fucking fuckity fuck! We were doing reasonably well too. We've got a months worth of severance to find her a new gig. On the up side, she won't have to work for a douchebag frat brat any more.

Good vibes to you and your lady. Mine is shopping for a new contract as well. Think it will be something good.

FAAAAAAAAAK! So sorry to hear this. Good luck to her in the job search. Good luck to both of you in weathering the storm until another job is found. Hopefully it won't take too long.
I'll be sending good vibes/thoughts/prayers/etc in your general direction.

Here's hoping for a quick and happy search!
What field of work?

That blows.
I hope she comes out ahead and finds a good boss to work for. They do exist!
And if it helps (I'd guess it wouldn't right now, but maybe later), it took me 1 month to find a new gig. Granted, I have to drive all the way across the state weekly, but I feel it's worth it for now. It's only a 6-month contract, so the commuting will come to an end.
Hang in there!

Fack, good luck though. Do what you can to enjoy the time off, it can be fun at first!

Thanks all for the good thoughts. Her mood could've gone either way, and she's hitting the ground running. I sure do love that woman. I'm sure there'll be some ups and downs in the coming weeks, but we've got our game faces on for the moment. She's already applied for a job with the state as a fraud investigator, and is starting to pluck at the networking strings. Fingers crossed.
@ Pintgudge- The job she's leaving was an office/operations manager for a small investment firm. She also has a law degree and worked defending Snohomish county in civil suits for a number of years.

positive vibes, and all that assorted hippie nonsense to Ms C!
Shout out if you need other contacts etc. Feel free to fire a shot across the bow on the ZK DL too, you never know who knows who, and if any of those who's need something done that might fit.
Cheers,
