I had my first breakthrough with an installation that was to be the prototype for this current one. It was called THE PUNCH-YOU-IN-THE-FACE TUNNEL. It was the same set-up as THE RAPE TUNNEL except at the end of the tunnel I’d punch the subject in the face instead of raping him or her.

IMO, if you know it's a rape tunnel and you enter it, it's consensual and NOT really rape

Now, there's a provocative piece.

Bold, black text, black, the color associated with evil, darkness, the unknown, the mystery, on a background of white, brilliance, truth, beauty, but also unremitting scrutiny, clinical cleanliness, emptiness.
Error
It starts off confrontational right away. There is something wrong. Things are not as they should be. It's in your face about it. Error. Deal with it!
establishing
To establish. The act of creation. It has failed. Creation has failed. God is dead.

The only flaw I can find, this seems to be filler, a mere allowance to grammatical rules. But, on the other hand, by fulfilling it's role, it signifies defiance through the context. Yes, we follow the same rules as you, we are part of you, you cannot get rid of us.
database
Database. Data and base. The base is the foundation. Data is what we interpret to find knowledge. The foundation is learning. The quest for truth. Education. The growing of the mind. Data is what we can interpret because of it. Without it, we are but animals. Cold ruthless logic here, juxtaposed to the emotion of what is on either side. The calculating, rational element of us. Has it won over us, turning us into automatons? Have we lost it, becoming wild beasts once more?
connection
The bond. What ties us. Love. That which defeats loneliness, what makes our lives bearable. The end of this work. No period, no exclamation mark. Final rejection of society's rules, of the cold aspect of logic.

Overall, it signifies failure. We are denied what we desire. We cannot have it, try as we might. Our logic cannot help us. All that is left is bare human, clinging together in a cold universe, shielding each other against the loneliness.

***EDIT***
Oh, theres another thing now, about some sexual predator and his elaborate method of grooming his victims.

Would make a great comedy. Imagine all the country-club benefactors-of-starving-artists-whose-work-isn't-too-scary and the trendy art junkies (or, rather, the clichés thereof) crawling in there and coming out, quietly sobbing, clothes torn, proclaiming it to be utter brilliance.

The fact that he made it and we react to it on a gut-level makes it art, regardless of how we react.

However, he's just a scrawny artist type, probably a little ill from standing in that box all day. If you let a few other people go first, he should be sufficiently exhausted to make tackling him no major problem.

I wonder how many people with, let's face it, odd sexual fantasies will treck to that exhibition to "submit".

Sounds like rough sex with strangers.

Part of me is utterly disgusted by this, part of me wants to give it a go.

simply.... stupid. Not art. Not edgy. Not even very imaginative.

All about getting your dumb ass name in the paper when you're really a no talent hack. Next he'll be pissing on crosses.... oh wait, that no-talent excuse for art has already been exploited to achieve unwarranted notoriety. Perhaps a few photos of some soup cans .... oops, sorry, guess that's already been done too. Ohhhhh, how about a rape tunnel? A snuff pool? Hell, in SF this story wouldn't merit a byline on a blog. Whatever, Carry on . . . .
15 . . . . 14 . . . . 13

I'm with Goose. This is no different than the "artist" smashing live rats on a sidewalk with a sledgehammer. "Ooh, look at me!" Morons.
Also agree that walking into something called a rape tunnel and expecting to be raped at the end makes it consensual, not rape.

Am I the only one who wants to send Chuck down the tunnel? I think the "rape tunnel" would pretty quickly turn into the "beat down tunnel".

I was going to nominate Flatline.

Personally I was shocked, and even a little bit sickened, when I saw the pure contrivance of the entire piece. I realize the "starving artist" image is one that people strive to maintain, but when their creativity, especially on an internet site, is reduced to posting:

I think they've just taken the easy way out.

I think Chuck might get stuck or just plain break the tunnel before he got into the rape room.

He'd have to be careful with the horn laden helmet. What a surprise for the potential rapist.
