"There were two guys in the closet. They appeared to be sleeping -- one was snoring and the other was deceased,"

"For this, I went to law school?" the judge somehow didn't say.

....

"One was snoring and the other was deceased." We think Raymond Chandler opened one of his novels with that sentence. (Farewell, My Druggie, maybe.)

Plant was charged with possession of drugs. The corpse got off scot-free, except for the whole being-dead thing.
Okay, is this the influence of Hunter S. Thompson on today's crowd of journalists, did a very qualified journalist decide that the ridiculousness of the situation demanded something other than a somber tone or have some shady editors decided that Jon Stewart's style of news presenting should be the modern default?

In any case, this story leaves me unsatisfied. How did the body get in the closet in the first place? Did the druggie bring his own? Is that a new thing, lugging a corpse around, then breaking into houses, squeezing into a closet with the stiff to do drugs? Where did the corpse come from? Who was he? Had he been doing drugs in that closet before? Was that how he became to be a corpse?
I must know these things!

EDIT:
The druggies old school buddies are lining up in the comments section! How postmodern!

This is exactly why I posted this... the report answered NONE of the questions it raised in me.

From the comments:

Bill says:

"I wouldn't dismiss the idea of manslaughter either, especially if the corpse had never used drugs that killed him before."

Hey genius... You can only do drugs that kill you once. then you are dead. Unless you are Jesus. Man, wouldn't that be cool? Party like a rock star until you are dead, and then simple rise from the dead sometime around Easter? I'd say "screw it" to winter every year!

hehehe
