If you ever watch the Tour d' France through the mountain stages, they never lean to anywhere near this degree and those guys are the best cycists in the world. Besides, I cannot see a bicycle generating enough force (centripetal or centrifical? I cannot remember which) to maintain traction on the edges of their tires like in the photo.

Staged photo for sure, especially looking at the line the second bike is on.

Also mountain bikes on knoby tires? Please! and bare knees on the pavement?

As for TDF riders they are some of the strongest athletes in the world but only a handful are good riders, usually the ones that came from mountain bike downhill racing background. Definitely the ballsiest of all athletes reaching some insane speeds on the mountain descends practically naked.

You might say they are crazy, but they are definitely not quitters, if they can get up and ride they will ride to the finish they will, covered in blood and sometimes even with broken bones.

Funny how I put on armor to go ride a motorcycle, but love to bomb down hills on a road bike in what amounts to colorful underwear. MATPOC we've both fallen off the cycling wagon and need to get back on before we fatten up and fossilize...

I need to get my fat ass on the bicycle too. Go check the ADV slideshow, there are a couple of guys lying on the pavement with motard bikes.
