I'm actually writing pretty slowly this year. Assuming today turns out as planned, this will be my first day over 5k words...


...I just learned that Clement Salvadori - who is a noted moto-journalist, I hear - says this year's Holy Rollers "could give competition to Dan Brown and Sarah Palin."

That is either a heinous dig, or an awesome compliment. I'm taking the compliment.

Chapter 18 is now live. Things are starting to go all to Hell for reals now. Open war, stolen lab equipment, Chinese take-out.

25k words down and halfway through the month. Woot!

Not participating my ownself (don't have the time), but know heaps of folks that are. Do write though. Unfortunately, the muse has been a bit quiet of late. Have three stories am actively staring at, goal is to get at least one of them to the point of having an actual plot by the end of the year (it's good to have goals, even if you know full fecking well you're not going to achieve them!)

I find the best way to beat writers block is to just start writing complete shit. Eg. "Q is bored. Really bored. So fucking bored that his boredom had it's own gravity and weather system. I mean really bored, OK."

Pretty soon an idea will pop up and I can abandon the crap rant and get on with the story.

...And, CH. 19 is finally up. It was finished last night but I had some technical difficulties in posting it.

Ah, it's not the writing that's blocked, it's the ability to come up with an actual PLOT! Characterization, dialogue, scene-setting ... these things I can do; coming up with a plot? not so bloody much.

Uh oh. Are you one of them literary writers?

Coming up with a plot is hard work. When I have a character but not plot, I think about what the character really wants (ex. to get back to Kansas), and then do my best to keep him/her from getting it (ex. witches, flying monkeys, men behind curtains, etc.).

Or, you can just throw all your characters in a room and see what happens. It worked for The Breakfast Club.

Had a bad writing day yesterday, but a decent one today. Chapter 21 is now up on the blog. For you long-time readers, I think this chapter has an amusing surprise in store for you.

Chapter 25 is up now. It's been a busy, fun day. I think you're going to like the new chapters.

Chapter 27 is live. I think things are starting to get exciting.

Sorry for the delay if you've been waiting. I caught me a goddam cold that laid me out for a couple days. I'm working double-time now to get caught up before the end of November. Which is Monday. Fucking Yikes.

I am a fucking writing machine. 5,123 words today. That's 39 pages, yo. Tempted to keep going, but I can hear my comfy, comfy bed sweetly singing my name.

IT'S DONE!

Final word count, 50,002. All chapter live on the blog. Currently enjoying my victory champagne.
