After a year and seven months, my insurance company is getting ready to make me an offer for my accident.
The claim has been evaluated, the evaluation has been submitted to whichever insurance company boss-person who needs to OK it, and hopefully I'll have an offer from which to start haggling either this week or next.

It's about goddamned time.

In all fairness, it's not entirely their fault that this has taken so long.
I needed a gazillion medical tests and doctor's visits for the nerve damage in my leg, some of which I had to wait to afford (and even then I didn't really "afford" it, I was just taken in as a charity case and the Dr. isn't billing me until I settle).
Then the hospital was slow with my records, yada yada yada.
It's just been a long, annoying process.

I got two emails, though. One was "I'm evaluating your claim, and I can't open the file with your most recent photos of the injury on your leg. Can you send them to me?"

I asked "is it just the recent ones you need, or do you need the whole, gory lot, with the photos of the open wounds and stuff?"

She wrote back "No, I've got those, and decided that I have enough information to process your claim without recent photos, so I went ahead and submitted it."


I'm hoping that translates into "It doesn't really matter what sort of scars you have at this point. I took one look at what the doctors have said, and saw all of those gnarly, disgusting photos, and I'm just going to give you the full amount of the claim."

Here's hoping, anyway.
