If you watch really closely, you can see his shoe (not sure which one) re-enter the atmosphere near the center of the frame at the last few seconds of the clip.

Oops!
Can anyone identify what the hell he was riding? Was he trying to go through the gate on purpose, jackass style?

If you watch the very beginning where he comes into view, you'll see that he was actually attempting to lift the front wheel (and succeeded a little bit) - he just made some errors in his time/distance/delta-V quackulations. ...and demonstrated a complete misunderstanding of the concept of "braking distance".

All I can imagine is a massively stuck throttle.
Ouch.

i love how the peeps in front of the store rush out to assist the rider after his accident. NOT! Look the guy tried to wheelie through an empty parking lot and when he came down he simply ran out of room. Sure, significant lack of skills coupled with such exquisite protection does make one want to laugh at him, but jeebus, chuckle on your way over to see if he's alright. That vid is full of fail

Am I bad for laughing? I know I shouldn't laugh, it is bad for karma and stuff.

That being said, my favorite part is when we sticks his legs out right before the big boom! :)

I did almost same thing back when I was a squid, except it was a courthouse parking lot and my buddy's bike instead of the wall. To my defense I did hang a decent wheelie before locking tire on a new black top.

At least I had my safety t-shirt on!

Whoa man... I had a gnarly wheelie gone bad in front of a BUNCH of friends once. Me, being a jackass, tried to clutch up a wheelie on a cold tire because I figured it was "warm enough" outside.

All I did was break the back tire loose, and proceed to burnout/launch sideways (and I mean *seriously* sideways) into all manner of hard, unpleasant objects. A building, concrete posts, the front end of a truck, etc. There was no way in hell I was letting off the gas though, coz I didn't want to highside and/or catch traction and go flying headlong into one of said objects. I just had to keep it pinned until I had slid it around everything I was going to hit and straightened the bike out.
I got laughed at. Hard.

I totaled my former "bud's" bike.... Insurance took care of him, still we didn't hang out much after.
