To it's credit, Texas is kinda small.

I learned about this some years ago. And it's STILL depressing as all hell to think about.
The problem is that the plastic and shit that is out there are all polymers. Polymers don't go away. A polymer is just a big long chain of a repeating molecule, and as it degrades, it just degrades into shorter chains. There isn't any way to actually get rid of it in that sort of environment.

Remember that each time you buy a bottle of water or soft drink or anything in a plastic container, which nowadays is just about everything.

It makes me insane to think about it.

It is truly sad. What a shame the way we treat our planet. :(

Our children will bless our foresight in depositing so many valuable hydrocarbons in the pacific garbage vortex for them to harvest. You know, after the oil has run out.

Ever drive across it?

Remember: If you drive from Houston to El Paso, you're half way to LA...

Y'know, the plastic-floating-island, no matter how large it really is, doesn't bother me nearly so much as the nuclear reactors and warheads laying at the bottom of the ocean.
