Actually, I plan to walk a piece of property with my dad today searching for corner pegs. Should be a good way to burn off some turkey.

my favorite thanksgiving memory is of being hit in the face with a football. I was about ten and so full of Turkey, etc that I couldn't move. I just stood there watching the ball coming at me unable to do anything about it. Then I was flat on the ground thinking "hey, this is way better lying down."

Yesterday I drove to CO in size 34 pants. I brought a pair of 35s for the trip home.

I just pulled a brisket out after 12 hours of cooking. The entire house stinks to high loveliness. This goes with the turkey and the ham. The holy trinity.

I'm already into the wine.
For lunch I'll have a chicken sandwich. Then I'll finish packing, get in the car with the fam and drive to an undisclosed location to prestage for a flight out of Boston.
By Saturday morning I'll be surfing in Costa Rica.

See ya

No bird for me today but I'll take the football (even if it is a Lions and Packers suck fest). Big dinner planned on Saturday.

damn, that looks good goose. i din't know you could make a roux. and you don't look southern... trade you that recipe for my pulled pork... or i could give you my denver gumbo recipe - uses buffalo andouille and habaneros (the hispanic folks know a bit about spice...)

I had a lovely plate of veggies - went up to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA with my parents to meet up with my sister, her boy friend, his sister, her husband and daughter. Nothing like being the fourth wheel on a holiday dinner.

The gardens were pretty - ended up napping in the car on the way home - must have been exhausted since I couldn't blame it on the turkey.

Worked all day then had a mate over for dinner: cooked lemon basil salmon accompanied by wild rice and brussel sprouts sauteed with carmelized red onion and garlic.

Followed by lots of beer.

A good day.

Got up at 6am yesterday to fire up the smoker, six eye burning hours later one of the juiciest birds I have ever concocted was wrapped in foil, filling my jeep with delightful aroma on its way to grandmother's house. It now exists only in my memory.

Fell asleep around 11:00 last night. wide awake around 12:30.
Headache, gurgling stomach, grouchy, too much late night TV.

Can't wait 'til next year.

Had my first Thanksgiving in the States in 4 years, that was cool. It's a much more sedate affair than it used to be, although one of my daughters' birthday (which I had also missed three years in a row) fell on the day this year, which was even better to finally be in on.



Supposed to go acoustic rock crushing this morning, but needed to be home with the kids.

Plan on taking my motorcycle out for some cold, crisp Zen this afternoon.

Y'know, it's interesting that as far as I know, Thanksgiving is a uniquely Canadian/US thing.
