This is why I hate journalism. Aching to jump on the jingoist bandwagon, some asshole decides that Public Enemy is the new Ward Churchill..... then, oops! Douchebag!

A Nov. 26 article in the District edition of Local Living incorrectly said a Public Enemy song declared 9/11 a joke. The song refers to 911, the emergency phone number.

btw, Chuck D rocks!

Poor writer, I'd guess that most of their heroes do appear on stamps...

Oh come on, Goose. Do I need to start a "This is why I hate the practice of law..." thread?

Here's the original:

“Public Enemy has earned notoriety with more than 20 years of politically charged music about fighting the power, challenging racism and declaring that 9/11 was a joke.”

Here's the corrected version:

"Public Enemy has earned notoriety with more than 20 years of politically charged music about fighting the power, challenging racism and declaring that 911 was a joke."

And that seems to be the extent of it. Yeah, it was a mistake. Probably by a younger person than you or I, and it should have been caught by a copy editor, but "jingoistic bandwagon" and "Ward Churchill?" Seems a little extreme for a puff piece on Public Enemy performing for homeless kids.
