Ok, folks -- after several years of using and loving Firefox, I'm coming to the conclusion that it's becoming as bloated and clumsy (and unstable) as Explorer.

So.

What're y'all using? Anybody found something they like as much or more than FF?

I like Firefox. I've only used it and Safari though.

Opera.

I have chrome and firefox... i currently dislike both. Maybe it's time to give opera a try.

I had Firefox flake out but only because I installed a metric crapload of add-ons ( IE engine, foxy proxy, bookmark helper, forecastfox etc). Complete re-install usually takes care of that.

When you have chrome open, you can hit shift+esc to bring up a task manager for chrome. This will show you memory, CPU and network usage for the browser and tabs. You can compare this to what you have currently available ... if you wish, you can also give some feedback on that here

Edit: I'm actually viewing this on Opera. I like the turbo feature, comes in handy when my bandwidth gets squoze.

I've been using Firefox for about a year or so now. Not too many add ons and it works well enough for me to keep it.

How is Opera better than Firefox?

I've been using Firefox for a long time. I'm currently playing with Chrome on my laptop. I'm not wild about the learning curve, but I'm slowly sussing things out.

I think the question if one is better than other is a matter of personal taste. It doesn't cost anything to download and try it and if you don't like it, it's easy to remove.

I just loaded Linux Fedora on my laptop - Firefox seems to work okay. My husband likes Chrome.

Maybe I'll give Opera a whirl.

I use Firefox and haven't had any issues with it that would make me go looking for something else. Most of my online computing frustrations are the result of an old computer with feckall processing power and not the browser.

Someday I will manage to justify the purchase of a new computer for other than watching streaming media ... but until it stops being able to do what I need it to do for work, 'extra' cashey money goes elsewhere - such as I want an airmesh riding jacket for when the weather gets nice!

Yes, it is free.
It comes stuffed to the gills with things that with Firefox, last time I checked, required a load of plug-ins.
It's easy to personalize and has many nifty features ready to go from the start.
Some features are downright clever. Like when you enter a password on a website, rather than asking you whether you want to save it and proceeding only after you have selected yes or no or never, it'll proceed so you can see whether the password you are about to save is actually correct (handy for avoiding immortalized typos).
It can mask as other browsers for websites that have been designed by idiots who think that webmasters should choose what browsers the visitors to their website ought to use.
It scores 100/100 on the Acid3 test, whereas Firefox only gets to 93 out of a 100 (that's a test for proper website rendering).
In my experience, websites are usually rendered quicker and it doesn't resize large images but lets you zoom in and out at your heart's content, something that Firefox doesn't always do.
It really comes down to personal tastes. I've toyed with Firefox now and again and keep Firefox portable around for the increasingly rare occasions when Opera is flummoxed (half the time on these occasions, so is Firefox, btw).

Speed Dial (the default page consists of screen shots of websites you can choose so you don't have to go to the bookmarks for you favorite sites but have them right in front of you when you start opera) is surprisingly handy, so is the ability to add my own icons for important websites next to the address bar or defining my own shortcuts for search engines.

It has some slightly over-hyped features that let it act like a server for impromptu file-hosting or chatrooms and stuff, inbuilt email client, RSS reader, reasonably decent download manager and a turbo function for making things go quicker.

And if all that isn't enough, there are "widgets" which are basically what plug-ins are for Firefox.

I like it.

I'm actually using the new IE, and have no issues with it.. go me!

I've had no problems with Firefox (not even sure what an add-on is), but I may try it at some point.
