San Francisco vs. Westboro Baptist Church. SIIIGNFIIIIGHT!

I thought about dropping these in the Random Pics thread, but I know how popular the Westboro Baptist Church is around here so I gave it it's own thread.
The WBC protested in front of the Twitter office in San Francisco. Some counterprotestors showed up. The rest, is hilarity:

A bunch of my friends went to that and I'm super jealous that I couldn't.
My friend Austin is the woman holding the "God hates kittens" sign in the laughing squid article.

This got me thinking, what would your sign say? I was leaning towards, "God Hates People Who Don't Read the WHOLE Bible."
Any other ideas?

I worry that they would feed off of that sign though. It would be giving them a talking point they can argue against. They'll cite things. They'll draw you in to their hatred. The counter-protesters get frustrated or angry, and the WBC gets the desired result.
"I HAVE A SIGN" sign is genius. Mocks them and their protest (or whatever it is), and draws attention away from them. It's fun.

Yeah. The KKK marched on my university back in '92, and we all sat around trying to figure out how to simply draw attention away -- some guys had a pie fight along the parade route, but didn't involve the marchers. Another buddy of mine and I worked our way up to the front of the crowd and just turned our backs to the whole parade.
Personally, I'd like to see a bunch of huge leather-bear types go and just make out across the street from the WBC folks. Don't talk to 'em, possibly carry signs (not necessary), but just very visibly get all sorts of intimate (within the bounds of the law) and watch the WBC people loose their shit... and then walk away. Maybe let another set of leather-bear types take over.
Inundate the assholes (politely) with that which they utterly loathe. Perhaps offer to let Rev. Fucktard join? (Gods, who'd wanna take a go at that bony wrinkly old ass? Eew?)
Everybody's so busy shouting that they've forgotten one of the best weapons is simple disdain. "Oh, you're protesting? That's nice. We're still here and not going anywhere. Piss off."

What if this is all a hoax? They want to travel the country and figured out how to do it for free and write off travel expense so they show up with their half hour freak show at Twitter and spend the rest of the day sight seeing, paid for by some gullible church going folks from Westboro. Just a theory...
They came to Providence few month ago, picketed at East Providence High (AZ you were just there!) some kids were across the street with their signs equally hilarious, it was a busy intersection with lost of police present so I didn't get a chance to take any photos. To further my conspiracy theory: since there is nothing much to see in East Providence perhaps they were going to Casino next?

So, by simply saying, "I'd like to take the opportunity to thank god for making me a spiteful, hateful, bigoted narcissist who can't possibly fathom that the real message in the bible (latter part) is that god is loving and forgiving." Makes it alright to act that way? Uhm, I certainly hope not.

i'd probably walk around with a sign that said:

Some of those signs are so bad it is really hard to tell whether they are parody or not.
I really enjoyed the "God's Never Gonna Give You Up". Funny how the Rickroll joke has taken on a political bend when it comes to arguing with those you really can't constructively argue with.

Firstly, I would disagree that the main message of the bible is to love and get along with your neighbor; the overarching theme is obedience to god, which can possibly overlap but certainly are not a face of the same coin as behaving in a loving and moral way. Secondly, no. I'm not saying that it is OK to be a diversity hating attention seeking fear mongering asshole; only that if you take the bible as a whole, and believe ALL of gods word to be true, they are probably on track. I don't believe god is love, I believe god is an extension and embodiment of some common characteristics of humans and other animals, IE killing and destroying what you perceive to be your enemy. I'm not saying that is the right way to do things either, that is simply my perception of what little i've observed in the world. Or are you saying that the old testament is somehow not the word of the same god?
Corinthians 13
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Leviticus 20:13
13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
Corinthians 6:9-10
Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
Deuteronomy 22:20,21
"But if ... evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones..."

yeah, that book is full of good times. In law, if one cites a passage that supports a proposition but fails to show how the reasonig fits in the context of the overall case, then you look like an idiot. same seems true of the good book too.
my sign? Rock for Grand Chancellor of course! or Free RBM!

Ah the WBC. They are their own special kind of batshitinsane festering evil. I am encouraged that it's composed of only one extended family. There's still hope that their bloodline will fail, and their rancor with them. If you have any interest in how they came about, and it is a twisted and sordid tale, this is a good read.

I love the community response, and that the WBC basically abandoned their second protest. Creativity FTW.

Can you stone someone to death without stones?
Could it be pebbling someone to death, or breezeblocking them?
Just wondering...

I think it'd be awesome if everyone just ignored the hell out of those guys. No press. No counter-protests, or outrage. Not even looks of disdain.
Just completely ignored them, as if they didn't even exist.
And on a tangent, what is the deal with confrontational street preacher types? "You're going to Hell for wearing open-toed shoes, you slut!"
'Well, fuck, I'd better start going to your church."
When I was in college, one of the nearby churches did that. Pastor/Reverend/Poobah What's-his-head would literally harangue students walking by for being whores, satan-worshippers, and other garbage, which would draw a crowd of ticked off students, who he would then tell were all going to Hell.
Anyhow, it'd be interesting to see WHO joins up after that shit.

A few years back the fuckers from the WBC came to Salem, OR to protest a Baptist church because they failed to endorse their brand of looniness.
My daughter & some of her friends set up a counterprotest across the street.
I was pleased to see that Jake, one of my daughter's friends, dressed as Hitler and joined the WBC loonies and goosestepped around them.
The worst of it these fucktards disrupt the funeral services of our dead returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, claiming their deaths are due to their "God's" judgement of our so-called homo-loving society.

I'm glad that I didn't know when they came to Washington a few years back or I would have been in jail for stabbing people in the throat.
Fuck these douchebags with a cactus. That's on fire.
