Has anyone seen anything like this?

I was on my way home from work today when I ended up behind a kid on a gixxer. He took off from a stoplight and dragged the bottom of his right shoe along the pavement. Then he switched to his left shoe. Back and forth, back and forth, I thought that's odd. Plus the the fact he was just wearing Nikes. We never caught another stoplight so I didn't get a chance to ask him. Seemed like a waste of good shoes. I kept waiting for him to hit a dip and whack his leg up behind his head. Anyone? Anyone? Is this thing on?

Yeah, that is what the racers do too.

Maybe he stepped in poo, and was trying to scrape it off.

Maybe he was about to start running wind sprints and was trying to bring his shoes up to temp?

I've dragged my feet once or twice after stepping in a pool of oil at the light, usually notice once my feet start slipping off the pegs.
Another possibility is Fred Flintstone influence

What's with the Rossi/motogp leg poke, anyway? Are they just trying to take up more space to close the inside line a bit?

Rossi started the trend few years ago and like everything in racing, others tried to copy him. In the interview sometime ago he said it helps him turn the bike, perhaps an air-brake? who knows...

He wasn't doing the Rossi thing, hell I do that. Mainly, cuz I'm a poser. This dude was actually dragging the soles of his shoes on the street. Maybe he doesn't pay for his own shoes?

Maybe he doesn't trust this gyroscopic precession thing and was afraid of falling over.

I've ridden behind her when she was doing this. It's absolutely freakin' hilarious!
