New addition to the zoo

So the man who cuts my grass, his name is Dave apparently, approached me one day and asked if i were interested in purchasing a Doberman puppy, which were born that day (of course waiting 6-8 weeks or whatever to ween and grow). I've never had a Doberman, but I've had a soft spot for them since I spent some time with a friend of mines female red Doberman. The answer was still a big fat no. No question about it. No, no, no.

....11 days later.....

I was in the garage working on the dirtball ninja, when I see Dave the grass guy pull up with no lawn mowing equipment. When he and his wife (or mother, I haven't figured that out yet..) got out of the car, I saw the wife/mother holding a very small black dog. I was confused. I thought it must have been the the wife/mother's dog, and surely not the dobie puppy he was trying to sell me the previous week. they wouldn't take such a young puppy away from its mother for that long of a time. It was, They did.

They told me the mother rejected the puppies after 10 days. Now from what I can tell, they live in a mad house. They have a big family they can hardly control at times. The mother doberman was setup with her puppies in their kitchen. Not what you would call a quiet, stress free environment for a nursing mother of 6 puppies, especially when they take her pups all around town at 11 days old. They mean well, but they just aren't really 'with it'.

So now I'm kinda hooked. In the back of my mind, I wanted the dog to begin with. Logic is what dictated the answer I gave him to begin with. Now its a whole new ball game. I told him to hold on a minute, and I called my mother. She is an all around animal lover. She knows more than most, and has saved many animals in the past. She tells me "don't let that dog leave with them". So now, my mother is the proud new mother of an 11.. er 12! day old female doberman puppy. She will have to bottle feed it, but honestly, i have all the faith in the world that dog will be healthy as a horse with my mother in charge.

so anyway, a long badly-told story about how i got a (tiny) doberman.

Great dogs. I've had a couple in the past, both had very good dispositions. They got along with everyone and everything. Their reputation as vicious attack dogs is a little over the top.

Don't crop it's ears, they don't need to be done. They are just fine with their floppy ears.

Name him or her yet?

Yes... I will supply the ammo.

Dobie's are good dogs, if raise to be confidant and obedient.

2cents: Don't ever give that dog up for adoption. They will be so bonded to you due to the age you acquired it. :)

People who don't bother to learn how to take care of their goddamned pets piss me off.

IT'S CALLED THE INTERNET, MOTHERFUCKER. A HALF AN HOUR ON IT WILL TELL YOU HOW TO DEAL WITH AN ANIMAL AND HER NEWBORN PUPS.

But I'm sure I'm preaching to the choir, here.

It's a really good thing there isn't anyone with a door to door puppy vending service here. That puppy is so cute I need to go break one of my fingers to get back to reality.

As for people that don't fix their pets, unless they are on a farm or a breeder they aughtta be fixed themselves.

(and in some cases the breeders as well)

Vicious looking puppy. They can really disguise their blood thirty personality. Put the puppy down now and step away carefully.

How wonderful of you & your mom to rescue that sweet pup! Dave & his mom-wife should be shot, or locked in crates for a while, or possibly both.
I volunteer quite often to do animal transports for rescue groups that pull dogs/cats out of high-kill shelters. The stories I hear never cease to astound me.
I can't believe Dave and him mom-wife had the audacity to take an 11-day-old pup out and about town. That poor momma dog!
I'm glad the little girl is safe now and I hope her siblings find a good home.
I also hope Dave and mom-wife get the mother spayed (I'm sure they won't though). Fucking idiots! (yes, I know I'm preaching to the choir here too.)

And +1 to what RC said...don't get the ears cropped...Dobies with natural ears are very beautiful and unusual.

I love dogs. My 14(?) year old pit, George might need a puppy to keep him company, seeing this little furball of love makes me want to go to the pound. Like, now.

Dave(?) and his Mom(Wife?) need to be sent to the re-education camps.

fuckin' people :x

You are in for a bit of work with one that young, but another alluded to the the bond that you will create with this doggie. I can tell you from experience, you are in for good stuff. I had a runt puppy when I was 17. Best DOG ever....

Have fun, be good to him, and when he is old enough? Cut his damn nuts right the fuck off.... For the fainter of heart that means neuter is cuter....

Congratz on the addition. Damn, he is uh, yeah, the puppy is cute... scary cute.
