That's what I thought when I started riding. I was sure I would be the guy in cut-off jeans and cotton T, kicking ass. First 4 hours in the woods was convincing.

I don't wear just a T -shirt on the motorcycle, or cotton on a long bicycle ride. 8 hours in normal shorts would be like fucking a belt sander.

So these days I'm not just a gay-ass astronaut/power ranger on my motorcycle, but a gay-ass Euro wannabe on the bicycle... c'est la vie.

I gave up on the hardcore cycling a few years ago, but still enjoy a romp on my velocipede when I can. In fact I just dug my old Diamondback road race bike out of the fitness junkyard of my garage and took it for a spin yesterday.
On topic, I don't enjoy the coverage we get here, VS network carries it and it sucks. I do enjoy Le Tour, but not enough to download a torrent of race footage.

For me, July is a time when the heat and haze seem to make time feel suspended, and contributing to this is the steady chatter of my tv playing Tour coverage for hour after hour. Having a DVR is highly recommended, because you will be hearing the same commercials a lot. You don't have to care who is winning to be able to enjoy endless helicopter shots of France, or know what its like to hurt on the bike to be able to see the emotions on the riders faces. It is also very important to listen to the morning telecast with Phil and Paul, who keep up an amazing flow of comment, history, and angles and make it sound easy. For me July belongs to the Tour.

Yeah, morning broadcast is the key, the "expanded" (read edited) evening coverage sucks and the commentators are not as good, the morning crew, Phil and Paul are jangleplatz! The vast knowledge combined with delightful sense of humor, rare combination.

Watching almost 20 km long descend by riders wearing nothing but a bike helmet and lycra doing 80 kph makes my skin crawl.
