I was backing the minivan out of the garage and bumped the luggage rack on my bike and tipped her over. Bike is fine with the exception of a broken mirror that I think I'll use as an excuse to replace with these (if you're going to do one, might as well do both):



Thoughts?

Matpoc's got those on his Daytona and my 1125 uses signals-in-the-mirrors too. Go for it. Also stop hitting your bike with your minivan.

Not sure which is funnier, that you were in a minivan when you knocked over your own bike, or that you knocked over your own bike. Either way, glad not too much damage and you get to upgrade in the aftermath! Thinking this may actually be "a cunning plan" ....

Ran over my own bike 10+ years ago, different circumstance and it was a Cummins powered dually Ram, still embarrassing as hell!

As Pattio mentioned I have similar mirrors and I love them! Mine are bar mounted tho.

I might be in the market for another set, where are you getting them from?

About five years ago after a minor get-off that involved a bunch of smashed up stuff and bent forks and stitches, I had the bike in the driveway with the front end off and the cover on it. Our driveway goes like a semicircle; the bike is in the middle and my car is at one end and my wife pulls in from the other end.

I came home from work one day to find the bike laying on its side. I thought maybe the wind had blown it over. Turns out my wife saw some piece of debris in the driveway she didn't want to drive over so she thought she'd back out the other way. WHANG, bike goes down, she's late for work, and drives through the yard to get to the street.

I still can't understand that one.

Minivan's the wife's, my cage is a Volvo sedan.

About a month or so ago I actually raced a Chrysler minivan to Camden, a town about 20 miles away. Those things can haul ass; I saw an indicated 85 mph before I finally passed him on an approach to a corner I knew he wouldn't try!

At least it was your own bike! Yesterday leaving the bike shop that I was at picking up parts for the gf's bike, I backed the Benz into an older BMW bike with collector plates on it! Yes I was in a bike shop parking lot and knocked over a bike! The owner was cool about it but he is still going to make a claim with the insurance company. The mirror and mount got scratched, the valve cover got scratched and the side case got scratched. I'm pretty sure I have a get out of jail free card with the insurance company because I haven't had a claim in 10 years so it shouldn't affect my rates but man did I ever feel like the hugest dumb ass.

Bummer about knockin' your bike over but, those new mirrors will look kick ass

and yes...I to own a minivan...still got 4 kids at home...lmao

I was going to try and order them through some online shop, but they didn't have them. On a whim I looked on E-bay and found them for less (about $39 as opposed to the $51 I found them for at the aforementioned site).
Bought it now (I'm too impatient to go through the auction process), so they should ship in the next couple of days.

I worked with a guy who actually ran over himself, so you could certainly do dumber things.

I have a minivan because it hauls a motorcycle or coupe scooters and I can sleep in it. Oh and it's handy for work, delivering shirts. I frequently pass BMW's and Porsche's (occasional motorcycle) in the turns and ramps and with 250 horse it'll hit buck-twenty, but who wants them speeding tickets...

To get back for what that minivan did tio your bike I took a mirror off a minivan on the way home. You should have seen him--Cager was piiiiiiiiiiiiiised, but hey, he's a minivan cager--that's what he gets.

Yeah, either that or he's just going to leave it as is. The bike wasn't any where near perfect to start with and he said he figured I seemed like a decent guy and I was genuinely concerned and apologetic, so it wasn't worth screwing my insurance rates.

And for the record, it is well documented on this very site that I am a former minivan owner/driver. I loved my A-Team Aerostar!
