It's midnight here and from where I stand i can see snow through the window and live coverage on french TV, a biker got up at 3 am in the morning, rode his bike over 700km and is doing some bicycle to relax in the sunshine, live on TV...I used to stay up late at night to see the guys riding 200kph through the african deserts after a long day of driving in the snow, live coverage of the dakar and H&M bikini adverts in town used to keep me going day after day. I'm a little dissapointed by the new 450cc rule, I thought the dakar was alla bout going full throttle frenzy since the 1000 BMW made all the other single eat their dust, but .. ok....
nice medecine for my early PMS.

Watched a download of the pre-show episodes last night. Or, what they might have called Trophy Rooms of the Rich & Fast.
There's no live coverage here. In a couple weeks OLN might put up the episodes unannounced at 11am on odd-numbered days once they've had time to dub in their EXREME voiceover.

Tonight at midnight on "VS" (former OLN I think) 30 minute highlight reel, hope they do it better this time. Last years coverage was terrible, weekly recaps with host that better suited to cover gymnastics or curling (no offense Rolly) Phil and Bob would have done a better job at it!
I miss Africa, probably because they had better TV coverage then, I understand that a year off and cancellation probably hurt the event and was the main reason for TV coverage decline.
*EDIT*
Just watched the 30 minute segment they aired, better than last year but still lacking. Tomorrow Day2 will air at 1AM

thanks. despite the inevitable "dakar is for rich kids who spoileid the mother earth" discussions, I'd say it's been a fairly ggod year. lots of action, no drama, and sainz did no end up on its roof at stage 2; Lots of winter tv good sunny adventurous images, what i'd wait from a dakar.

Have most of the episodes on my hard drive (missing stage 10 and 11) but haven't got around to watching any yet. Maybe grab a case of beer and start tonight.

I watched them last weekend and really enjoyed it. I still thought the coverage sucked though. A 1.5 hour recap show of the whole damn thing probably would have been more compelling and had more unique footage than the 30/day format. So much time gets wasted trying to remind you of who everybody is and how the race has gone so far . . .
Watching that made me very excited about summer.
