I find their lack of proper gear appalling.

Were there...cans dragging behind the bike in the first video?

If only I had video of Back Door Barbie loading a bike to counter this:
Her, a handful of tiedowns, and the words "just steady the back end so it doesn't fall over"

It was quite rad.

I can't even begin to count how many times I have successfully done precisely what these people are failing at doing. Maybe it's because I'm not doing it with a 1200 pound cruiser or something, but I never found it that difficult.

Of course, that being said, I will probably fucking fail at it the next time I try it, just because I've now said it.

These videos reinforce why I do not ride bikes into the bed anymore. Countless times without issues, but even years latter I will not push the luck any further...

Makes me want to ride mine up onto my tilting workbench.

Seems like one of the unifying themes of these ramp fail videos is that there are always enough people just standing around that they could have done it safely.

wafs you and I have a significant advantage in being tall. I suppose its also to my advantage that I was once one of the spectators to a stupid ramp fail, years before I had my own pickup. And before everyone carried their own video cameras around.

I think the first guy would have made it, except for the fact that the bike had insufficient clearance to make the ramp-bed transition (not to say it was an 'accident', still dumb and needless). The second guy failed to operate his clutch properly, so I think that merits the most fail.

I didn't know ramps were necessary. You guys don't just pick your cruiser up and set it in the back of your truck? Weird.

The fail, here, happened when both of them decided that loading their respective bike on a truck was something for the group to behold, an occasion worthy of being documented for posterity.

I've somehow managed to load Harley's, dirtbikes and the ST3 into the back of my now departed lifted Ram 4x4, and not dropped them. Ridden, I mean, not pushed. Once, back when I had a 2wd truck and lifted weights with some regularity, I manhandled my old ironhead Sportster into the bed by lifting the front wheel onto the tailgate, then picking the rear-end up onto my thigh and heaving the rest of the way up. If fell on its side once it was in the bed because it of course had no way to balance, but it got in there. I wish I was still that strong.

This is why you use two ramps, and walk the bike up one in first gear with a little gas while walking up the other yourself. Riding it up invites problems, and the extra weight on the seat reduces ground clearance.

I've been here long enough to remember a video of someone loading a dirtbik on (or off?) the bavk of a pick up truck with his bare hands.

but I've been here long enough to be unable to remember if it really was one of you and who it was.

I wonder how many people on here have taken the back seat out of a car, stuffed it in the trunk and then took just enough parts off the bike to stuff it in the back seat area of a small four-door?

I bought an old Dodge Caravan, pitched the seats as soon as I got it home. The deck is about a foot and a half off the ground, super easy to load my bike in there with about a six foot 2x12 board.

Those with apehangers need not apply.

Fastcat, you just need a little electric winch inside the van to pull the bike in for you, and you're set.

In other news, I had a near moment UNloading my KLX after some dirty dirt riding today. Somehow, one of the loading straps had flapped itself into a knot around the kickstand. I didn't see it, and it brought me to a dead stop, halfway down the ramp. When I unload, I typically just sit on the bike, and let gravity do the work, because riding motorcycles backwards is fun.
Fortunately the near incident was in my driveway, which is on a slight incline, making the ramp much less steep than if I were going to flat ground.

Had I been going to flat ground, that might have been a little bit more uncomfortable an outcome.
