I came across this while looking up videos on the turbo spoke, I am a bit clueless on this one but I suspect a lot of alcohol was involved.

that's typically the kind of rational things french bikers used to do for the 24h races (at Le Mans or the Bol D'or).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGfOlFN4cQM
- Get trashed and covered in mud
- rev the engine to the limiter and/or play with the kill switch all night
- wake up, throw up, ask who won the race, try to find your bike, get someone to fix it / tow it
- go home.
They used to bring engines on trailers just to make noise all night, but the recent years the organisators decided that this was considered turning an engine into a motor by dissociating it from it transportation purpose and it's not allowed anymore

so now they have to do it to their own riding bike and trash it.
