My sister and I are looking for a place to crash in San Francisco, one night only, second week of December. Anyone available? We don't even snore...

i may be able to accommodate ya, however, that's a ways up the street for my calendar. Assuming I remain employed and assuming I can continue to pay rent (they are not equal terms), you could stay at my digs. A bed and a couch and a bunch of motorcycle parts is about all you'll find in my apartment.

No cable, no heat, likely no food that isn't in a squeeze bottle. Good chance there's unopened bread from 2 years ago on top of the refrigerator. Likely a 6 pack of expensive beer, fresh squeezed orange juice and chinese food that I never ate from a long time ago that I am afraid of, so afraid I refuse to even touch the bag containing it. With any luck, there will not be any police tape on the door. Mi casa es su casa!

I'll find a friend's house to stay at assuming I have any friends in December.

If nothing else, I can find you a "relatively" cheap place to stay.

Much appreciated. Sounds just our style. I'll PM you in a week when we've got a set date.

I'm an hour and change away from SF. A bit far, but you'd be welcome at my place, too.

I'm in Oakland, a wee bit outside of the city. Crashing at a friends' place for now but I should have a more stable arrangement well before then, assuming this job doesn't blow up in my face.

You're welcome to stay at my place, Rench. Warehouse type space with a comfortable couple of couches and various other mattressy type items. We're a ten minute walk from BART.

Also, you moved here, Stiles? I haven't seen much of Mr. Goose since our beloved bar closed, but we should all get together or something!

Indeed, gone but not forgotten (*sniff*)

The Ace closed? That sucks. :(

When you visited, I confess I feel I wasn't the best host. You guys kind of caught me at an awkward time (which is not that unusual - perhaps I'm simply not a good host). In any event, the one thing I've done right is to introduce the Ace to my friends here and to all those who have visited me. I could go on and on about how wrong things were with regard to the closing, but it makes no difference, it is what it is. I am glad I was able to share it with you guys and sorry I won't be able to share it with Rench when he visits.

I'm not good socially. I don't fit in with most places, and that is fine by me. Hell, I opened the Ace by accident. It was my place. I could drink good beer, talk bikes, watch racing and hang with truly like minded folks. I miss it.

However, I try to treat anyone who visits to some cool roads to ride and some pleasant company. I truly enjoyed your visit and I hope you enjoyed my lil slice of the world. You and Rev are always welcome here, and I promise to take you on epic rides if you choose to visit again. While there is no Ace, I'm sure I can take you elsewhere to fill the void to some extent. Perhaps Rob will open another Ace. I hope so. If not, no worries, c'mon out and I will drag you out to Port Costa, down to Pescadero and again up to Stinson. I'd ride with you guys anytime! Glad I was able to share the Ace with you. Sorry, I have a few in me and I'm waxing a bit nostalgic.

Yep, I live in Oakland now - looking for an East bay warehouse-type share with parking since I can't crash at my friends' place forever ( I have two motorcycles, a pickup and an enclosed racecar hauler trailer). As usual, the parking matters more than the living space...

I'm totally down for some ridin'/drinks/brunch type get togethers with you and Goose. As per the usual industry practice, I have sundays and mondays off...

Drat! Wish I knew. the guy next door moved out and they just rented the space. Our building has some gated off street parking (none indoors), but a lot of the units have roll ups, so you can bring bikes inside. Our neighborhood has a funky/arty vibe with a ton of working artists around, and it's pretty friendly overall. Anyway, I'll let you know if anything comes available.

The one and only good thing about the Ace closing is that I have lost weight and have experienced fewer hangovers ever since. But man, I miss that place. I've been a regular at so many bars (and I still can't walk into the Lucky 13 without running into a ton of cool folks I enjoy), but Ace was like my living room. That word gets tossed around a lot, but I've never been to a bar that practically closed down for Laguna Seca GP, hosted regular camping trips, and was really a place where there was a guarantee that I would run into more than one person I could say that I love, people who I could call if I was stranded somewhere, people who could rely on me to do the same. It was the home of my best friends. It's closing really left a gaping hole.

OK, getting choked up. Will stop now.

Thanks - the only things that have to live inside are the bikes. If I could find a two car garage with a studio apartment above it somewhere in the East Bay I'd be in heaven...

I just bummped into this news about the Ace. This is truly sad.

I don't go to bars because I'm a sociophobe, but I absolutely LOVED the Ace. In fact every time I ever rode up to the Bay Area, the only place I saw Moto and Goose was at the Ace, IIRC.

The world is a little bit emptier now.

That ride out to stinson from the ace still stands my hair on end. Passing that truck into that right hander and following that duc of yours through those corners.... Tears of jesus.
