Taking bets on which one becomes a porn star from lack of parental attention, and overbearing spiritual rigidity.

When reading this and having my judgments, I had to take a step back and think of the ever shifting social paradigm around family size. At one point, a large family was a sign of good fortune, wealth, and prosperity. These folks surely must have all of that if they can afford twenty freggin children.
Then you look at societal standards now, and having lots of kids is labeled as gluttonous and (sometimes more than) borderline immoral.
Their family size is a product of their cultural environment, our judgment of it is a product of ours.
All that being said, I still think it's gross and irresponsible, and at this point doubly so. I mean, if you've got 19 fucking kids to raise, and you are embarking on your twentieth pregnancy, there is a strong chance you could die, and leave those 19 or 20 kids without a mother.
...not that you could really be much of a mother anyway, trying to spread your attention to twenty fucking children. Blech.

I counted 13 kids in that picture. Good God, couldn't they get cable?

I believe the Discovery Channel has been footing the bill since the 14th child.

Since the invention(discovery?) of penicillin, having that many kids is just silly.

My guess is their ride on the cable show was threatening to get canceled so they now have a new media buzz to feed the next season.

My guess is that they're religious fundamentalists who have ignored their own responsibility and simple facts of biology by placing their decision making process about creating human life solely into the hands of god.
God is not blessing you with children, you keep having unprotected sex, ya dumb bastards.

Well, yeah then there's that.

The Lord works in mysteriosu ways. And sometimes as in a case like this, its pretty obvious why this happened.

while I wouldn't wish such a heartbreaking tragedy on anyone, and I'm certain there is a lot of sorrow in the Dugar family right now, . . . . you can't say she was warned of the HIGH likelihood of this painful and sad eventuality.

My thoughts as well.
Luckily, I have no idea who these people are.

That would be an additional blessing. Who wants protected sex?
BTW, the people who supposedly don't know where babies come from are the primitives wanting abortions and miscarriage-inducing drugs.
I support married heterosexual parents bearing copious children, but have no idea why they would want to be on television or why anyone would watch a show about it.

People who don't want to have babies, abortions, or miscarriages?
Just a guess.

Because they are unable to support their breeding habits, and having less than a certain number (eight, apparently) means they just have to take welfare and their Christian sensibilities won't allow that. Well, not from the gov't at least, but handouts from the church and local community are OK.
And why people watch it? Ethical trainwreck, that's why.

I never knew who these people were until now. Nope, I still don't miss cable. Now that I think of it, the only reason we have a TV is to watch our DVDs.
