Just wait until you have to take time off work because of skating injuries. They'll be very understanding, I'm sure.

Stamford has a local skate park. I think I would pay your travel expenses to come up here just to watch you in the park with the kids.

Also, how's your connective tissue holding up? I had to give up skating in the 80s (OLD SCHOOL QUITTER!) due to fragility. I dallied with it a bit in the 90s, but that didn't last long, either.

And yeah, I have a helmet and wrist guards. Bohn Adventure Pants, which I don't like for motorcycling, work well on the ramp. I may pick up some knee pads, though. Been doing some sliding.
If you buy racing leathers + knee pucks and then only wear them longboarding, I'll be very disappointed in you.

I think this is AWESOME. Round these parts you wouldn't even get a second look as an "elder" ramp rat. Rock to fakie is easy once you dial in your front foot weight with the appropriate crouch. Good luck!

Yeeeikes.
I'm tempted to do similar things. But alas I always find a way to become "busy."
You should take up surfing. Low impact, all that.

After typing "gym spandex" in Google Image, I fail to see your reasoning. I would post pictures, but this is a family board.
Unless you were referring to yourself in spandex, in which case, yeah, you have a point.

You said the magic phrase in all of that "its not fun so I won't do it."
I took about ten years away from cycling when I learned how to drive, and sadly it took getting a DUI and losing my license to realize how much I fucking loved to ride a bike. Since my accident I haven't ridden much except to take my dogs out for a run, but whenever I am in the saddle and peddling my fat ass like a maniac I cannot stop smiling, age and pain notwithstanding.
If you are loving being on a board again, don't ever stop.
