10,000 lux solution

After years of debilitating seasonal depression, I finally managed to get one of those light therapy gizmos to try.
Verdict?
Worth it for sure.
Not sure if any of you struggle with this, but considering the alternatives (medication, lots of booze and sleeping, writing off four months of the year, moving two states south, etc.) $150 buys a lot of immediate improvement.
I found this tidy little rechargeable unit:
Besides a couple silly interface quirks, the unit performs as advertised, is highly portable, and while it doesn't make winter stop being winter, it certainly improves the get-out-of-bedableness factor dramatically.
This has been a huge burden for me for my adult life, and if you experience similar challenges this kind of solution might make a big difference.
I'm not trying to shill for any particular widget, but can vouch for the one I'm using. The main technical considerations for the therapeutic benefit when shopping around are a full 10,000 lux output, and a spectrum of certain blue light (as I understand it). I'm sure there's many on the market that work comparably.
Hope this helps.
Until it's warm/light enough to ride again, this little scary bright square will have to be my next best thing!
