Petes hatchet thread got me thinking. How many Ootmiks have a "cutlery fettish"?

Here's some of my knife collection.

I have more, but if I showed them here you'd think I had a sickness or something. :D

I've lost more knives than I actually own; right now I have...Lessee here...
I think I currently have five in all. Three of which are working knives, which means I use them day-to-day at work, some are semi-retired.
I'll get on the pics tomorrow.
Since we're on about it, I have a CRKT I really, really like but can't find it, and I lost an Italian switchblade I reallly miss. I'd like to replace it with an assisted-opening knife. Where can I get one with a minimum of hassle? Last I heard you have to present an armed forces ID, but my Merchant Marine ID should suffice.

Look at Kershaw for assisted openers (leek, scallion, needs work), etc., I've bought a few on Amazon with no hassle. Buck is even making assisted openers now!

Sisyphus, I picked up a Buck Rush assisted opener at Freeport Knife Co. 7 years ago. No hassle... well, except for the oblivious tourists.

I think I'm looking for a spring-assist one. Not sure if we're talking about the same thing. But okay.

Non switch blade, flips open instead of poking out in a stabby fashion.

Shit man, just get yourself a great little concealable fixed blade.

Sits almost unnoticed in a front pocket, and it's tough enough to split kindling for a campfire.

I need something I can use one-handed. Concealability is not important.
Pure utility.

Buck Vantage Avid or Pro, great "flipper" with awesome blade steel.

In Russian but awesome:

The Vantage Avid is what I carry every day for work and it's plenty tough.

I've worn out more knives than I care to think about, just about the same time I need a new pair of work boots I've snapped or bent the blade or worn out the handle. Of course, I don't buy fancy knives, or boots for that matter, I just need one at work to do all sorts of whatever.
That being said, I bought a 1st gen Leatherman back in 1993 which I still have, and is still without a doubt the best knife I've ever had. I lose it from time to time but always find it again. Last time I lost it, I found it in a carry-on bag when the helpful TSA agent pulled me out of line to berate me for trying to bring it on a plane. $13 in shipping later, I had it back in my hot little hands.

I'm trying to think of what i'd use a stiff blade conventional knife for day-today (outside the kitchen) and i come up empty?

The art in some of these decorative knives is pretty impressive tho...

Top to bottom, Swiss Army knife I carry when on the bike or whenever.
The USMC Camillus knife kept in the nightstand drawer
My retired rope wrench I carried for about fifteen years. I broke the tip off of it showing off how flexible it was. Apparently it wasn't as flexible as I thought. I loved that knife. Nice, thin spring steel blade that kept an edge forever. I reground the point on it, it's missing about an inch.
My current rope wrench, a Buck I picked up last year when I couldn't find my CRKT, which I really prefer.
Another knife, laminated Swedish number I used to carry at sea for a number of years. Now semi-retired.

I couldn't find my machete, but its around.
