I'm looking for that thread where it's a Japanese game show or something and they wheel an RC166 or somesuch loud as hell bike in and start it. In the studio.
Where is it? I must not be doing something right, the search function usually works for me.

Darnit, cannot find it 50 minutes of scouring old threads is entertaining, I'll admit, but more than I am willing to invest in this search.

Let me know when you find it, I am wanting to enjoy that six-pot noise against the backdrop of the aghast panel of guests again...

No dice. I even trawled YouTube.
I thought the title on the board was something to the effect of "glorious sound" or perhaps noise or wonderful or awesome... but we use those descriptives all the time around here.

Zim, FTW. I saw that, it shows up as the first vid on YouTube but I only recognized it after about 0:45.
Thank you for finding that.

I believe I have the whole telly program on my hard drive somewhere. It is all in Japanese (of course) and they end up dismantling the whole machine. The money shot really is the YouTube vid that Zim posted, though. Love that sound.

Seriously?
Is that, perhaps, on youtube somewhere, too?
While it makes me cringe that a piece of history like that should be thus violated for a mere TV show, I'd love to see the guts of that motor...

The book, Stealing Speed, touches on it somewhat, but the book is mainly about 2-strokes and their development for racing.
The 166 and variants were developed to turn higher speeds to generate more power to compete against the 2t's. One of those things you never think about really, until you see the whole picture.

I forget who wrote the book now, but it's only been out a year or so. Awesome book. I highly recommend it to anyone here.
