Don't know how many people lurk on BARF, but if you have, you know or know of Gary J.
He was a tremendously knowledgeable, tremendously helpful, tremendously classy gentleman, and an extremely skilled and experienced rider.
Despite that, he lowsided off of a cliff in the Santa Cruz mountains last week, and succumbed to his injuries.

Just figured a few of you might want to know.
If anyone knew him well enough, there is a party for him on June 10th. There's a thread on BARF about it.

I rode with him on 9 on a couple of occassions where he'd made it all look so fluid. He was an extremely skilled rider. Clean, relaxed, beautiful lines on his lil Ninja.

I think there are videos somewhere of him just flowing through the turns on Skaags while the big bikes would struggle to keep up with him. I wouldn't say we were friends, he was just a nice guy I'd run into on occassion at various riding spots and tracks.

He was a bay area institution (gave great advice regarding how to ride Sears quickly and safely). Likely, he saved my bike and my ass with his advice about the approach to turn 2 and how to execute a quick pace through the carousel without wadding up my bike.

I heard about his demise and the facts surrounding the crash. Something just didn't add up. Still, it makes no difference, he's deceased and our hobby lost a great ambassador.

Godspeed Gary. Condolences to his wife, family and friends.
