You know what they say about guys who drive around in huge, flamboyant, over-powered and over-masculine cars?
Consider the flipside. What a sensible, innocuous three door hatchback, but not a super-cheap one, rather the kind where you pay for modern technology, what that sort of car says about the guy.
He, evidently, doesn't even feel the need to compensate for his compact statue with a larger vehicle. And look at the guy. He looks exactly like the sort of guy who is not a stranger to putting the hurt on a guy.
Being intimidated by that is the smart reaction.

I'd have killed him.

You know, picking a fight with a guy in full gear is almost always a bad idea.

Indeed, I think that the second I saw that door come open I'd ether leave and throttle out of there or I'd be off my bike. No way would I be flat footing my bike as someone walked up to me like that. I'm not badass by any stretch, but I'd be damned if I would compromise my own safety straddling a bike.

Of course, the whole thing could have been avoided by letting mr. Fast and Furious 5 just go on his merry way from the light. Not sure i'm buying the rider's statement that he wasn't racing. Surely, he was antagonizing the driver to some degree that, while minor, wasn't necessary.

As Bo said, not a good idea to fight with a guy wearing armor. But if you're that guy, make up your mind that you want to fight and get the hell off your bike.

Well, like any other similar situation, most (normal) people would be caught off guard. Like, just doing your thing in your helmet one minute and next thing you know there's some asshole who thinks you've offended him somehow. Nobody expects that.
But like after you walk away from any confrontation thinking, "Dammit, I shoulda..." I was like, "I would have just waited until he had both feet on the ground and just peeled away to the right," but what if there was traffic?
You shouldn't fuck with people. You really have no idea who/what they are.

The rider has a witness, and a video of the guy driving recklessly, getting out and hitting him, complete with clear face shot and a legible license plate. That car driver is an idiot and his own worst enemy, and deserves to go to jail for sheer stupidity if nothing else. Who can't recognize a camera these days?

Read something somewhere else that right lane was right turn only and the VW was trying to jump ahead. Can't quite make out if that was the case but still a dick move. My armchair quarterback reaction would be to let the clutch out and give the guy a nudge while going around the guy.

Reason #1 why you just deal with stupid drivers. We all know they are out there and they will eventually do something completely stupid. Confrontation can be very dangerous.
