What is that opportunity?
A collectible antique? Something you had always wanted?
Or are they going to discontinue that model? If it's the latter, isn't the 1911 made by, like, dozens of different manufacturers in the USA alone?

and thank you to R_F for the screen capture!

i realised @ post #1905 that I had blown the chance to post a Springfield. i very nearly missed this one, too.

and, my apologies to Pattio (and any others) who found the image offensive. i assure you, sir, that i do respect your opinions, even if i don't agree with them. i'll try to resist posting an Enfield @ 1917.

A picture of a pistol without context is just a picture. afaiac calling me out serves to underscore that my pacifism is an outlier position in this group, and I have to accept that. I got the opportunity at doom to have lots of real chat with real people about nothing and anything, and the same thing kept happening: over and over, different people were forced to pause in their conversation, turn to me, and say "I know you won't like to hear this, Pattio, but blah blah permits blah blah caliber blah blah carry etc etc." It happened a lot. It's kind of a shitty feeling, knowing that you have taken a stance that makes the people you like have to say things like that, but its a great feeling to know that people at least know and care. There's only so many people in this world for me to not harm. I can not harm all of them and it won't really change much. Except that if one other person thinks somewhere in their mind that they know someone who chooses thus, maybe its not infinitely ineffective. Mostly, almost infinitely ineffective, but still something.

P.S. to 12ci: thank you for thinking of me and for showing respect for differences, to a standard that I think I have often fallen short of reaching.

Just so you know, I don't see you as some sort of anti-gun fanatic. I don't know where that reputation comes from and it doesn't matter.

I'd go with your secondary feeling over the first Pattio. I think its entirely a sign of respect. I get the rare and shrugged off "well, Harleys have their place, theyre good at what they do, blah blah" occasionally. It means people are listening. And, as 12ci said, they don't agree, but they respect you as a person enough to not make it a rift.
