In a surprise move today owners of Harley Davisdon motorcycles announced they would be developing a new line of motorcycles to compete for the off-road and enduro market.
Codnamed "Grasshopper" designers have moved in a radically different direction than previous Harley's.
Seth Brundle, project manager, trumpeted, "We've been hearing for a long time now that Harley Davidson can't be competative in any market than cruisers for the +40 nostolgia crowd. With that in mind we went back to the drawing board and tried to think in as radically different a way as possible. We've literally thrown out everything traditional on a motorcycle with this design, including the wheels."
Though only a prototype at this point, Harley Davidson expects to roll out their new design for the 2006 season. They plan to extensively tour the new design at various motorcycle shows for the remainder of the year where they'll get as much feedback as possible which they promptly plan to ignore.
