Didja ever try the ones made of ABS pipe that use hairspray for accelerant? I've launched apples about 500 feet, and a nice flame at night. Portable, too!

Be afraid; be very afraid:

tennisball canons that use zippo lighter fluid...if you squirt a dab onto the tennis ball, it becomes a fireball as it sails thru the night air

Me being the science dork I once was built a "tennis ball mortar" out of cast Iron pipe, using hydrogen and oxygen as an accelerant (because acetylene didn't make a big enough boom). Needless to say we never once found anything that ever left that barrel.

POST SOME PICS OF THE CANNON IN ACTION!
I just heard a recipe for a homemade explosive at the local scooter club meeting Friday night. 1 or 2-liter pop bottle, some WORKS drain cleaner and one other ingredient. Funny what you hear from people after a couple or three beers!
I'm not gonna say anything else.

Too many stupid people would blow themselves up if I posted the correct proportions...
I'm glad I'm not as implusive as I was 25 years ago or I'd have to try it out myself. I borrowed a neighbor's chainsaw to start up during intermission at the local drive-in that was going to show the Texas Chainsaw Massacre that night. Got busted before I left...

i've got a buddy in seattle that makes potato guns out of old scuba tanks and fire extinguishers. they come with a shoulder sling and a julienne fry attachment (providing your fry-cook can line up a basket about a thousand yards down range). i'm getting one for all of my nephews this christmas.

Oh that thing lasted about a week before local law enforcement decided I shouldn't be playing with it.

NEVER EVER use oxygen / Acetelyn as your propellant with a pvc gun.
I didn't get fired or even suspended for that one but in an effort to shorten a long story just don't f'in do it m'kay? This is the advise of one who has "been there, done that". That aside, being ten when you are (in my case) 32 yrs. old absolutely rocks.

I'm right there with ya. As for pics, I helped my girlfriend's daughter build it for a science project, when she brings it home I am firing up the air compressor (NO flammables!) and gonna head down to the waters edge for some test firing. One good thing about living near the beach, about the only good thing.
