Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.

Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

Piccini, my Dream Man

Post by Jonny » Tue Jul 07, 2009 5:57 pm

Last night I had a very odd dream.

Piccini had wrecked his bike out in the countryside and was waiting around (for a lift or something). He then started to hurl landmines, skimming them over an empty field and watching them explode as they hit the tarmac of a nearby road. Eventually some people arrived and started berating him for such reckless conduct, and then the dream turned into some kind of 60 Minutes, tabloid-trash TV show dragging Piccini over the coals: "biker acting in such a dangerous fashion", "irresponsible", "what was he thinking?", "what about the children?", etc, ad infinitum.

And then I woke up.

Not that I know Piccini, but I can confirm that he does have chiseled good looks and a devil-may-care swagger about him.

Hurling landmines is almost as cool as killing bats with one's face. Kudos Piccini!

Were they anti-personnel or anti-vehicle mines? Remote, trigger, or magentic detonators?

How many bounces did he get?

This sounds like the machoest of macho games - screw skipping stones, skip landmines!

P, when we finally meet up you have got to teach me to skip landmines. It's a skill I could really use here in Seattle.

It's just like skipping stones, except it's not "all in the wrist" it's all in the risk.

I'm such a badass, I hurl landmines in other people's dreams.

Sure, it starts innocently enough, a few exploding hammers here and there, next thing you know he's skipping landmines. Where will it end Piccini? Huh? Where?

Good question. I only know enough about landmines to be able to safely say that they weren't Claymores. Big, circular, discus-looking things that made a satisfying BOOM once they hit pavement. Does the type of landmine in ones dream mean something?

Piccini you badarse.

There is the distinct possibility that I spend far too much time on this board!
