Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

I'm going to fix these problems ( petcock, floats and oil plug) and if it fucks up again in the next 6 months I'll sell/trade her, no fucking mercy. Very nicely. Front brakes were getting noisy so I cleaned and re-padded them. Everything is ship-shape now if a little grimy. Mostly putting on commuting miles lately, RexAnne has been solid as a rock.

Ooh! Smack talking! I play too. :D

Bikes are fast or slow depending on who is in the saddle. All rider, RC. Head to head, I will bury that blingy blue FZ1 with my fugly dirty WeeStrom. (Bags off, of course).

To be fair, you would probably have an edge above 140.

No worries there. The last time RC26 saw the number 140 was on the bathroom scale in 7th grade. The only time he sees it now is when it's applied to his systolic blood pressure from eating too many bacon laden potato skins at the local tavern while leering at young girls.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure it's not just RC with this problem :P

I'll be fair too. I'm weighing in at about 210...take a 150 to 175 lb rider on a ZRX. HP being pretty damned close...FZ1 weighs about 30 or 40 lbs lighter than a ZRX dry. Too close to call...

There is another option...put it out on the track and really find out.

OK, Priest you've got drag racing experience. What could one expect doing it the first time?

Sorry, got this waaaayyy the hell of topic.

Several problems in generalizing... to name a few, first try to find a ZRX owner that only weighs 175 pounds, or a stock ZRX. lolz.

Weight shmeight. All of those numbers you're so fond of researching are fairy tales. Horsepower, torque, curb weight - all meaningless without balls, RC. I'll eat a month of pizzas to beef back to 210 and still chow down on your FZ with my 60hp chubby GayStrom. A bike is only as fast as it's rider. You see, your Yamaha is slow simply because it's yours. In fact, that sweet purple ZRX you sold DementedStabbit became faster than any bike you've ever owned the second he took possession of it.
RC26 wrote: OK, Priest you've got drag racing experience. What could one expect doing it the first time?

.
Slipping the clutch for the entire 60 footer, a 1/4 mile time similar to that of a Subaru Forester (an 1/8 mile in the case of OD it seems), and wasting your track fees and your Saturday. Drag racing is not a measure of bike performance, it's a measure of rider ability. Of which you have none.

Just busting your stones. For really though -
Stop thinking Hp. You're buying something you don't use. Stop with the "research". Fast is how long it takes you to get from the bottom of the mountain to the top, and back again, regardless of machine. Numbers like weights and horsepower are of no value to the average motorcycle rider (you) because you will never, ever put those numbers to use. They cannot explain how Dozer, for instance, can outrun your ZRX through the twisties on a decrepit, rusty, heavy, broken, 25 hp CX500 that costs about $50. Motorcycling is not all math.

</ballbustingsession>

I still have no idea how to answer the original question. I haven't seen my machines in a while. Days now. Kill me,
Priest.

I just talking fun smack, don't take it as a run down guys.

The track thing is something I really want to do, just to see what the bike is capable of with me on it.
Yamaha advertises a 10.5 second quarter mile time for the FZ. I'm sure that's with ideal conditions, and a pro rider. I'd expect to see something a bit off that pace with me on the bike. Hell...maybe a 12, 13, 14, 15 second quarter mile? Who knows what would it be, the reason I want to find out.

I resemble that remark. In fact, since the mountain bike has been treating me so well I'm down in the 150s from a high of around 175.

My rex is doing as good as everyone else's although we're sepearted by a thousand miles. R1,Thruxton & the track 600rr are all good and in current rotation. The other bikes are dead in the water but that's my lazy fault not theirs. Been riding the mountain bike more than all the rest though.

I took my rex to the strip once, got a best of 11.4, i've got zero launch skills, I'd rather my clutch last than lose a few tenths & i don't do burn outs to aid traction or anything. I've only been able to get an 11.1 out of my R1 which illustrates how helpful a tourqey front heavy bike like the rex is to a novice. The R1 should probably be a second quicker in the right hands I'd figure.
