Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.
How do we know who is or isn't an unregistered user?
By forcing anyone who wants in to Log In.
Is that annoying?
Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

He'll be easy to catch; Prince's bike was only a CM450 or something.

I shouldn't criticize Mr. Quitely (since drawing stick figures are tough for me), but I think he might have mistook the engine guard on Prince's bike for a front suspension travel limiter crossbar reinforcement thingy.

And are the front brakes CABLE ACTUATED?

Yeah, first thing I thought when I saw that pic was "why would Prince want to hurt Batman?" but then I realized it wasn't Prince.
Does the Batman really need another villan?

Is it me or does it look like the exhaust headers are coming out of the crankcase?
If it is a two-smoke, why the big cylinder heads?
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

I said I have a big stick.

I forget who it was at this point, but once I had a friend who used to draw all sorts of crazy, cool looking vehicles. Mad max shit with hoses and wires and gears all over the place. Really neat looking stuff.
Then he really learned about cars, and said that from that point, his art just wasn't as cool. It killed his creative thoughts and ideas about them because he could no longer justify all of the extra mad max weirdness in his mind.

They must have the old 1st gen Windjammers with the (ugh) low-tech, high-drag turn signals.

I can't wait for the comic itself, it's going to be tough to find an appropriate photo of Prince for ever panel this villain is to appear in.
