Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Cartilige piercing

Post by ImEazy » Tue Jan 05, 2010 10:26 pm

Anyone else do this? I bought a pair of horseshoe ear rings to
replace my nipple rings? Unfortunately I lost one of the fucking
worthless screw on balls. These things suck. What a pain in the
ass. I feel like a wuss as my sixteen year old daughter has 1/2
gauges in her ears. Anyhow I decided since I couldn't put these
in my nipples I would pierce my upper ear. After a major fight in
the mirror I got the ring through and had to wake up my daughter
at midnight to put the other side on. It is in and I am happy. What
a waste of ten dollars... laughs!

A pic...

Oh yeah, lots of experience with that -- note that I no longer have the fuckers in my head.

Short version: If it doesn't heal up in a reasonable amount of time (few months) I strongly advise you take 'em out -- I had both my cartilage piercings in for 10 years or so and the fucking things never quite healed right. It's a real joy when you pull your helmet off and it snags an already sensitive earring going through the center of your ear... fantastic, lemme tell you.

Anyway. Keep that fucker clean and let it heal. Try not to sleep on it. Looks good, FWIW. :)

Thanks for all the advise! I do know a little about this as I did my
daughters a few years ago. Everything looks good at this point and
only one person has commented on how good it does look. I guess
everyone else hasn't noticed. I am well aware of the helmet deal
as I do have both of my ears pierced three times. It is a pain, but
I will deal with it. Hell last year I only got to ride twice as I was that
broke. This year will be better. Thanks again!

Nice! I've done a couple of my own piercings myself...
It is possible to put on a helmet without stressing the piercings - I gauged my ears and put a helmet on the same day. Takes a little bit of maneuvering but once you get it seated on your head it's fine. As for healing time, I've had cartilage piercings take anywhere between a couple months and a year, so just be patient and take good care of it.

Yes, helmets and piercings definitely conflict. I go through it
everytime I put a helmet on. Unfortunately last year I only did
it twice as I was too broke to enjoy any type of riding. I couldn't
afford new plates. I have no idea about gauges as I have none.
My daughter has 1/2" gauges and is my hero. I have done all of
my piercings, including my pecker once. Did I just say that... laughs!
Yes, I tried it. It was the worst thing I ever did. The first time I tried
to pee with the ring in was nothing less than unpleasant.
Got sick of sitting down to pee after a day and got rid of it.
They say all piercings take at least six months to heal. Sally's
beauty supply has many products to make everything easier.

I had a cartilage piercing in my left ear - for some reason it never really healed properly and I had to take it out. I now have a small purple dot as a reminder.

I guaged my ears myself though - over a few months I now have 4g in both ears. It kind of hurt but was a bit therapeutic at the time. And I'm sure happy with them - again another bonus that I didn't realize I'd get ... still horrifying my parents at this age.
