Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

And maybe Beverly Hills Cop 4 will have Chris Tucker in it, and maybe Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson as the on-duty officers from BHPD. A little copy/paste from some existing scripts, just to save the writers some time, you know?

I'd buy a ticket to the above!

If it doesn't have gibson in it I'll be more likely to see it. I wouldn't watch anything with him in it these days.

Mad max 4? Really? I think that franchise has had it's day. There are so many good stories out there, why rehash this one? I liked how they finished it off and can't imagine they could do anything without doing a bunch of retcon. Hell, at this point it really is a period piece, as these days the V8's would be collecting rust and everyone with a hockey mask, wrist mounted crossbow and metal codpiece would be rampaging around in top chopped Prius dune buggy conversions. I'd much rather see Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer than Mad Max 4: Passion of the Furries.

This crazy rampage of unwanted and pointless sequels is just gross. I have nightmares about seeing previews for Blade Runner 2, The Day After The Day The Earth Stood Still, Shoah 2: Rise of the Hebrewnator, etc..

Enough with the sequels! Ray Bradbury didn't write a million books and short stories just so we could rehash old schlock (and same goes for murdering his work first time around, I'm looking at you "A Sound of Thunder" circa 2005, die die die!) Some stories aren't meant to have sequels, and hey, the fact that they don't actually makes the first and only one that much better.

Nobody in hollywood will listen to reason though, as we speak there is a room full of executives peering through a two way glass mirror into a room full of wal-mart shoppers watching the sequel to....

But Dan, Hollywood can fuck anything up, including amazingly good books, witness I am Legend...

At least with an existing franchise you get a certain amount of nostalgia and fan-base built in, and who knows, there's a chance, however slim, that Beverly Hills Cop 4 could see the return of an actually funny Eddy Murphy. Hell, I wouldn't even mind seeing Mel Gibson come back as long as it's a return to form, I like a lot of his old stuff, and don't really give two shits about a stars' personal life, which seems to be the major bitch about him these days.

Well, that and the whole Jew thing.
Well it's not like Mel is marching people into ovens, as far as I'm concerned the whole jew thing falls under stupid personal shit, I don't boycott scientologists films but I regard that as equally dumb.

Good point, RM. While I find Mr. Gibson's personal beliefs to be repugnant, I have to admit that I found Apocalypto to be an excellent film.
Elitist, arrogant, intolerant, self-absorbed.

Yeah, well, the fact that it IS science fiction just makes the fiction about it a little too... fictiony.

Not enough that they put a bullet in the head of the franchise with that pig town lord of the flies thunderdome shitfest...Now they're going to dig up the body, slap a picture of Charlize Theron on it and fuck the skull hole in the hopes that a quarter will drop out of the eye socket.

But I'm keeping an open mind.

Thunderdome was better than the Mario Brothers movie anyway....Or 2012 the let's spend 2 and a half hours watching the guy from better off dead dodge shit in a plane (which can only fly at tree top level for no apparent reason)...Why Cusack? Why?

Honestly, I just really wanted a chance to use a coin dispensing fuck skull analogy in a post....
