Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

As some of you may remember, I have friends in a band called Wooster. Their live shows are some of the best I've ever seen, and their album ain't too shabby, either.
Right now they are in a competition to have their album produced by Don Was, which would likely be followed by a good bit of radio play.
It's a make or break kind of gig. Having been to several of their shows, I know without a doubt that they have the chops, and the chemistry to go huge given the right exposure.
Thus far, in this little competition, they have made it to the top twenty out of over six hundred bands nationally.

Unfortunately, they need to be in the top seven to go to the next round, and they are down in eighth or ninth.
Voting closes tonight, and I want them to make it through, so if you could go to www.gimmethegig.com and click on their video, inside the box that pops up is a "like" button.

Click like.

I would greatly, greatly appreciate it!
I will get you drunk!
I may even blow you!

Thanks!

I definitely want them to stay inside the top five.
I was expecting the vote to close at midnight, but it didn't, so now I don't know.
I do know that they are announcing winners tomorrow, and just now found out that the top five are the ones who are automatically in, while the remaining two are chosen by the producer as wild cards.

Seriously, you guys are going to hear this band on the radio someday (they just got their own Pandora station, too).

There is also a selfish aspect of this, because I've heard a lot of their new material, and it's seriously awesome. They have more than an album worth, but need the $20k it will cost to put out their next record, and I just don't want to wait for that!

EDIT: Wooster's pandora is full of bands that suck ass. I've clicked thumbs up on two songs, and thumbs waaayyyy down on the rest.

still takin votes. 6106

That puts them #3, but #4 is just some 66 votes behind, and 5 & 6 are within striking distance

edit-
So I click on the leaders vid, just to see why they are #1 by a good margin....What the crap is that!? Its not even a song!! Its just 5 or 6 synthesized notes on repeat. They must have a) a sizeable and dedicated fan bace or b) found a way to cheat

Go ahead watch "Lost in Atlantis's" vid....thankfully its only 1:27 long

I don't care, but I clicked like anyway.

Now I feel bad that, maybe, another band may have deserved it more...oh, screw it.

I've listened to a lot of the other bands.

In my opinion? Not so much. Don't worry.

So everybody has been waiting for the big announcement to happen.
Rampant cheating has been rampant.
One band came from something like 15th place, and magically racked up about 5k votes in just a few hours to get first.

Finally, today, they gave us the word:

They lost their venue, rescheduled the show for the end of February, and the voting will continue for two more weeks.

Fucking.
Lame.

Keep voting, if you are feeling kind, and I thank you for all of the help.

Let me see if I have this right. Because of the rampant cheating you're asking us to continue cheating rampantly?... Yeah, sure, why not.
