Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.

Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

I'm not the biggest fan of stunting, but this guy is pretty amazing (plus I'm a fan of trials bikes).

Fantastic. There is a big difference between wheelies through rush hour traffic and guys like this. I would love to have that kind of control over a bike.

There was a stunt rider at Laguna Seca that did one of the coolest tricks I've ever sene. He got up to a pretty good speed, then locked up the rear brake, sliding out and then getting thrown from the bike over the high side. He landed on his feet, and ran it out, as though it was an accident, and then looked over his shoulder with a confused posture, but his bike came to a stop on its side stand. He pulled it off so well, that for a second, I thought I actually thought it was an accident.

Just once in my life I'd like to do that cool turn around...not the one balancing on the front wheel - but that neat little flip out of the rear end.

Well...actually I'd like to do the front wheel one too. But good sense and old age preclude me from starting such ventures now.

Lean bike over, hit the gas and pop the clutch. I'd suggest trying it on a dirtbike, in the dirt, before trying it on a big streetbike. It's really pretty damn easy though. Back in high school (Only a few years ago.) i used to do donuts on my CR250 in the dirt with my feet on the pegs, then come out with a huge wheelie. Them's was good times, lol.

The little bike was a trials bike, judging by the color I'd say a GasGas maybe, its 2stroke, and geared way way down.
