EVERYTHING IS MARKED UNREAD!!
First fix:
- open the menu at the top
- hit New Posts to see what's actually new and browse the new stuff from there
- go back to the Forum Index
- open the menu at the top again
- click Mark forums read
this will zero the unread anything for you, so you can strive forth into the exciting world of the new cookie thing.
Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that,
the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious
cookie, rather than the forum database.
Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the
New Posts feature should take care of that.
PLEASE NOTIFY THE ADMINISTERRERRERR ABOUT ANY PROBLEMS!
2024 LOGIN/Posting ISSUES
If you cannot Debauch because you get an IP blacklist error, try Debauching again time. It may work immediately, it may take a few attempts. It will work eventually, I don't think I had to click debauch more than three times. Someone is overzealous at our hosting company, but only on the first couple of attempts.
If you have problems logging in, posting, or doing anything else, please get in touch.
You know the email (if you don't, see in the registration info below), you know where to find the Administerrerrerr on the Midget Circus.
Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.
To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.
How do we know who is or isn't an unregistered user?
By forcing anyone who wants in to Log In.
Is that annoying?
Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.
Again, if you have any problems: get in touch.

Unfortunately, the Contact Form is being a total primadonna right now, so please send an email to the obvious address.
Posting this address in clear text is just the "on" switch for spambots, but here is a hint.
Option the Second:

I figure enough of us shoot recreationally that it might be fun to have an ongoing exhibition of our skill development.
Comments, suggestions, etc. welcome.
I figure 10 rounds at 15 yards is a pretty even baseline to work from- those with a preference for revolvers might standardize to 6 shots, and carbines would probably need a longer range for the same general standard...
Anyway...
I just upgraded to a Sig 229 9mm from my XD.
first day out with it:
(the group on the left is at 7 yards)
hopefully after a few more sessions, I'll get the 15 yard to look more like the 7.
Always room for improvement!
Let's see y'all's best!

WW,
Very good. Average street gunfight is under 7 yrds so you are g2g there.
Only looks like a single jerked shot on the left, where you doing a 6 o’clock hold?
Although, I was told by a little birdie once that if your double taps at 10 yrds
are touching you are firing to slow

That "stray" on the 7 yard was the last shot, after I tried a different grip to correct for the low/right tendency in the previous 9.
I have a lot of further experimenting with various grips and techniques to do, but I'm sure a few thousand rounds down the road will show some better consistency!

Went back to the range solo today, and played around with a few different grips and stances. The first four or five mags all had the same prevailing low/right drift, and I finally contrived a pretty weird stance that seemed to help.
Toward the end, I switched to a single handed grip, and had surprisingly good results!
The last 20 rounds went hail Mary into this recycled "target" I found in the trash at the range's max 25 yards, again, one handed:
Definite improvement.
My goal is to get all 10 rounds into a 4" diameter circle at 15 yards.
Might.
Be.
A while.
I'd love to see some of your guys' efforts, as well!

I used to shoot on .22 league before my S&W was stolen, lot's of fun. Never saved the targets, but I got pretty good at it for an amateur.
Rules are simple, 50 feet, strong hand (one hand), 3 match rounds 10 shots each round, than target is changed
Slow fire: 10 shots, 10 minutes
Timed fire: 2 strings of 5 shots, 20 seconds per string.
Rapid fire: strings of 5 shots, 10 seconds per string.
I broke in to 250's after about a year, could have done better if I practiced more.
I will get a box of ammo and head to the range soon, I still have my .357, hope my shoulder is up to it or I will have to switch hands for good.
