Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

Dark Days

Post by dozer » Sun Jun 19, 2011 9:36 am

Fuck, what a movie. I tripped acid a few weeks ago and found myself blasting DJ Shadow's Endtroducing album pretty fucking loud, there's just something to the way that he orchestrates sounds and rhythms...anyway, the movie; I've been following a few homeless people around recently, taking pictures, filming and hearing their stories, as well as some other random street photography, trying to capture what they go through in a city like Baltimore. Then late last night, some friends came over and we started discussing good films to watch or that we'd recently watched...(Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, etc) and my buddy suggests Dark Days....
<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IPR5N0wZVYM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
and it's fantastic. all grainy, black and white, beautiful light and cinematography....Any of ya'll seen it?

Watch it here:

People still take acid? Really?

That movie... There was a nonfiction book out about the people that live in the old subway tunnels in NYC. "The Mole People," by Jennifer Toth. You should check it out, or I could lend you my copy.

Sisyphus, funny you should mention that. I talked to chris when he came over this morning after I had just finished watching it, and he said the same thing.

I saw that about ten years ago, and yeah, it's a very good flick. Definitely worth watching.

If you are actually interested in the social aspect of the film then look up "Outside society " it was the film that started a tiny change actually getting useless liberal do gooder college pukes into the tunnels to help out.

That looks like an interesting flick, adding it to the list. Also, if you're thinking about assembling what you're working on into a movie, we've got some good connections around here to the film festivals and such.

LSD,   loved that stuff! Enjoy it while you've got the time and freedom to do so. Getting older makes 72 hour vacations from reality much more difficult :(

Oh, and does anyone else think DJ Shadow is really great for riding? It doesn't get me riding all crazy like punk rock, and I can hear the good parts over the engine. (it makes me sad that listening to opera/classical on the bike is futile).
