Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

If you cannot Debauch because you get an IP blacklist error, try Debauching again time. It may work immediately, it may take a few attempts. It will work eventually, I don't think I had to click debauch more than three times. Someone is overzealous at our hosting company, but only on the first couple of attempts.

You know the email (if you don't, see in the registration info below), you know where to find the Administerrerrerr on the Midget Circus.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.
How do we know who is or isn't an unregistered user?
By forcing anyone who wants in to Log In.
Is that annoying?
Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

Again, if you have any problems: get in touch.

My birthday party, and a show in Oakland. 12/11

Post by WeAintFoundShit » Sun Dec 04, 2011 1:39 pm

My birthday party. Disco Volante. 347 14th Street, Oakland, CA 94612. 9pm. No cover.

Details:
In one week, I will be celebrating my 3 trillionth, 162 billionth mile around the sun. Sunday will mark my 34th year working on this project! Amazing!

So to commemorate this occasion, as well as to commemorate the fact that it is, indeed, the second Sunday evening of the month, I will be playing the washboard, and the one and only Shingle, so that I might add a touch of beautiful cacophony and off key croonery to the wonderful sounds of Thee Hobo Gobbelins!

What I would ultimately love to get for my birthday is you! So come get yourself drunk* (that I may take advantage of you in your stupor**) and we can all sing and dance and make merriment together!

So please, come and join me in making this a night to regret not remembering! Bring a friend! Bring two friends! Bring ALL of your friends and we can take this party out into the streets! (I hear that there's plenty of room to party in Frank Ogawa plaza, and that's only two blocks away!)

*(Offer does not apply to vehicular operators or those in pursuit of a life of sobriety, though your attendance at the party is still strongly encouraged.)
**(Offer does not apply to blood relatives, though your attendance at the party is still strongly encouraged.)

Why do you always have to do these things so far away? There are other parts of California, you know. Like the southern part. Selfish.

It's my birthday and I'll be a selfish prick if I want.

Also, this just in: Our featured guests this week will be Vagabondage. Sort of a goth/gypsy/punk kinda deal, but heavier on the goth/gypsy part.

And Jerk Church. Hard drinkin sarcastic sing alongs of acoustically revamped cover tunes. Pretty much always a good time.

Mission accomplished. Good meeting you and Stile in the flesh. Still have to explain fantastically drunken state to the missus. Wish me luck.

Still alive as an organism, but if you were to zoom in on my brain cells, they would tell a different story.
I think I drank away part of my childhood last night.
And yes indeed, that was a good fun time. Nice to meet y'all in person!
