Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

I just think it's funny that the guy from the Harley forum says "oh, those guys HAVE to be friends with Adam Carola" just because they share the same opinion on modern "bikers."

No... Lots of people think this. It's a pretty largely shared opinion. It's not just three dudes with media outlets.

I'm a little disappointed that they passed up any chances to co-relate Mr Slave's traditional gay leather persona with the biker personas. What if Mr Slave effortlessly infiltrated one of their meetings until they realized he has nothing under those assless-chaps? Speaking of which, the HD forum that is linked is described as 'the forum to talk about your assless-chaps' so they are clearly a bunch who have their sense-of-humor in good shape.

I honestly don't really care what any of these people say, I thought the southpark was hilarious. I watched it again last night. I laughed really hard. Why? Because it was fucking funny.

That being said, I ride... I ride my motorcycle, why? Because I love to ride my bike. I Have a black cruiser bike, not flat black... it is still shiny. (That might change this winter, I am thinking fluorescent green and purple.) I wear a custom made carbon fiber helmet... no it does not have a full face, yes I have picked gravel out of the skin on my face, no I don't care. I got hit in the face by a small pebble hard enough that it made my eyes water and blood ran down my cheek, would I trade that for not hiving the wind in my face in the mountains, no. I have loud pipes, they still have the baffles in, why? because of the required backpressure to make the engine operate better. Would I like a new Buell so that I can turn it into a bitchin' custom streetfighter? Hell yeah... The problem with all of this lies in the fact that no matter how into bikes I could be on a board like this or even on the HD site... I won't be as hardcore as someone else. I fully expect that any time I talk about my bike or my helmet on this board that someone on here will have an issue with it, that somehow my way of riding is not as good as their way of riding. the fact that my jacket doesn't have a kevlar re-enforced spine, whatever. My bike will never be enough for any of you, and that is fine, because it doesn't have to be, all it has to be is good enough for me. So if I decide to put ape hangers on my bike this winter (which I might) I am totally fine and prepared for the 'wheeeeee!' comments and shit I will take for it, (because it is funny and I DO have a sense of humor.) and I understand that, but again... my bike, my life, my fun. I will never refuse to ride next to anyone because their bike isn't 'expensive' enough or because it doesn't have a big enough motor, and if someone on this board decides that they don't want to ride with me because of the way my bike looks or sounds, that is on them... I am not the one with the prejudices.

So what do I do?

I don't have a Harley, so I don't belong with them. I don't have a Ulysses, so I don't fit in with those people, I don't have a 'busa, so I don't fit in there, I don't have a KTM so I don't fit in there, and I don't have a Ducati. SO here is what I get, Lumped in with the HD riders by the people who ride all of the crotch rockets, and I get excluded by the cruisers because my bike is an import. I don't really give a shit, I ride for me... not to impress any of you or anyone else. As a matter of fact I ride alone... almost exclusively. (I would like to ride with other people... just don't usually find people interested in riding, lots of people are interested in talking about riding, very few are actually interested in getting out there.) I don't ride to take a survey of how many people wave at me from other bikes. I don't look around at the other cars to see who is looking at me. I like my loud pipes and 'beetle' helmet... if that makes me a fag, then fine, I'm a fag. I think it is great that everyone on this board feels some sort of 'vindication' that your view was 'right' because the guys from southpark agree with you. Honestly, it feels just as immature as the dipshits on the HD forums who don't have enough of a sense of humor and are whining about the show. Yes... get over yourself, we are ALL outsiders, for one reason or another.

My stance has been 'Ride' I am all in favor of whatever people need to do to ride, if your bike isn't painted glitter pink and that is what you need to feel good about riding, paint the thing pink and get the fuck out there. My suggestion is that we all stop pointing fingers and laughing because the guy going in the other direction has a flat black HD and a Beetle helmet as much as the HD guy laughed at the dude on the 'rice rocket' with the hot pink plastic mohawk on his helmet. Both of them are putting their lives on the line equally when the venture out onto the streets... if nothing else there should be some mutual respect on that base alone... that being said, some bikers are real phony assholes, I have made fun of these pricks before too, when they were talking about 'Fags' in the show... it felt like they were talking about these guys. (I generally feel the same way about the 'Hot Rod' guys that are the same way... phony.)

I had a guy driving a vintage VW give me shit at a stoplight because my cruiser wasn't a Harley. He called me a 'Fake Biker'... and asked why I was riding around my little piece of shit rice. Seriously? All of that is ignorant shit. If you think that everyone on a cruiser can't ride that is just as ignorant as the rest of this shit.

Oh... and I like Adam Carolla, but he can be just as big of a sensationalistic prick as anyone else. He makes many valid points but unless I am out riding my bike for him... I take what he says with a grain of salt.

I have fun. And more importantly... I love to ride. I honestly wouldn't care if it were the bike I currently have, a $90,000.00 custom 'chopper' or a 1965 Honda Sport CB160 (My first bike).

If you love to ride, just ride... southpark is just a fucking cartoon.

(I do think that it is hilarious to go Brububububububub when doing things that are not riding a motorcycle... like blending a protein shake, just like I think it is funny to say 'der tekin errr jeerrrbs' when my friends bitch about their work.)

So fuck it... laugh, get over yourselves, and ride.

You can look for me, I will be the guy in the suburbs with the black fake harley. :)

The Adam Corolla factor aside, the true second error is explaining or justifying yourself for any reason to anyone.

Instead, answer any questions about your legitimacy as a rider with your odometer reading, the sunburn on your face, the tires you destroy, the bugs on your leather, the blisters on your hands, and the holes in your boots.

I have to agree, I just don't understand you Mag. You try to present yourself as this hardcore, badass individualist and yet you feel compelled to explain and justify yourself whenever that seems to be questioned (even when it is not like in this thread) which is completely contradictory to who you claim to be.
