Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

A lot of sports have a rhythmic/dance version that emphasizes performance in the theatrical sense but doesn't go all-out on the athleticism. Figure skating vs Ice dancing, downhill skiing vs freestyle, rhythmic gymnastics, and synchronized swimming are all examples. In our US world of cycling, BMX freestyle ('flatland') has been around for some time, and there is a recent trend to migrate BMX type riding to larger fixed-gear bicycles, popular among that subset of current young people loosely described as hipsters. What's funny about this video is the idea that, somewhere in Brooklyn, a wealthy, overeducated young man with a mustache and tight jeans is trying to perform tricks, badly, and thinking that he is on the cutting edge, when in fact there are girls in europe in un-ironic leotards who can do tricks he will never dream of. I file it under "there is nothing new under the sun."

I always appreciate the arts of control and balance. Maybe it stems from my years as a climber. I enjoy seeing control.

I also enjoy muscular young German girls in tight clothing.

I was about to make a demeaning joke about this being the equivalent of synchronized swimming, except for people who couldn't afford to get into the pool. However, they then stood on the handlebars. Holy fuck who can do that for shits and giggles?

...and here's the real thing. Do they sell these trickbikes in six-packs or does he just respray his frame a lot?

Ridiculous skills. I like the bit where he stands the bike on the front wheel.

In a former life, I was friends with a kid that was sponsored by Standard bykes and he just had a shitload of bikes laying around.

I have no idea what it's called.. but i loved that trick in the last 30 seconds where he kick flips the front wheel twice. It made me want to put the long axles and pegs back on my bully and fail miserably at trying to learn this stuff.

Sooner or later one of them might, might realize why brake calipers exist. Until that point, they will forever be schooled by men and women from 20+ years previous.
