Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

If you cannot Debauch because you get an IP blacklist error, try Debauching again time. It may work immediately, it may take a few attempts. It will work eventually, I don't think I had to click debauch more than three times. Someone is overzealous at our hosting company, but only on the first couple of attempts.

If you have problems logging in, posting, or doing anything else, please get in touch.
You know the email (if you don't, see in the registration info below), you know where to find the Administerrerrerr on the Midget Circus.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

To restrict further overloads, any unregistered users had to be locked out.
How do we know who is or isn't an unregistered user?
By forcing anyone who wants in to Log In.
Is that annoying?
Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

I told someone(?) about the marker chips in all explosives...similar to a UPC code. This brings that technology home, literally!

Taggets or something like that. They won't do anything but raise the price of my black powder on the anti-personel level. When it comes to big bombs, it will be too little too late. Just another case of the Gov. sticking there pinkies where it won't help anyhow.
This link makes it even scarier.

Wiley: Taggets have been used for the last ten years. And, so far, blackpowder users/hunters aren't affected...unless you get the stupid idea to make your own bomb. THEN it affects you. Face it. Most people aren't intelligent enough to produce their own explosives but can make a "firecracker" out of Ready To Use. Taggets are like car alarms. It keeps the honest: honest. A Real thief/terrorist has other means/materials.

SmartWater is a good idea.

taggents

Post by jr_bear » Mon Feb 28, 2005 10:03 am

Taggents can only help the police by identifying the lot and manufaturer that the powder came from. They are little plastic grains in the powder. The price of powder having quadrupled in the last 10 years can be traced to reactionary politicians creating new liscencing and shipping req.s. I don't think the taggents really have had an effect on the price. Typical politician thinking...."oh no, now it will be too expensive to make a bomb. Whatever will I do now?" Now shooting my canon costs about $5 a shot. The people in Washington have succeeded in saving the lives of some large pieces of drywall, and that's about it!

nonono Muppet.
THAT smart water is for not-smart people! BIG difference! The vaguely medicianal/ official packaging, the Vapor Distilling (for these purposes, still just distillation), electrolytes added? Thats a fucking joke! Electrolytes=Minerals removed by distillation. Water tastes funky minus minerals so they HAD to put them back. They did you no favors. Considering the average american diet, you get everything you need from the food you ingest. This water is FOO-FOO bullshit foisted on a gullible and science ignorant public.
For the same affect burn three dollars everytime you get a glass of tap water. Its the same thing and more honest...

rant over..

I don't like how small tracking devices have gotten. If you shake hands with the wrong person you are part of the crime. If you are the person before or after a person who misuses a product you are getting a visit from jack booted morons! Other than that,it sounds lovely!

The military, gov't and offshore mfg of explosives won't have identifiers. Besides, OK city was done with homebrew. It's (smartwater) just another attempt to cash in on paranoia.

My understanding is that the American explosive manufacturers protested the tags being added to their explosive formulas due to exposure to possible litigation.

I bought some of that Smartwater in the nifty plastic bottles. I quit buying it--guess it worked!
