Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

Yes. But there's only so much the Administerrerrerr can do to keep this place running.

Yeah, totally badass. But I call fake! Yes, I do! For I see what appears to be an open brake-drum, but where are the innards? Or don't CJs have a brake on the sidecar wheel? I seem to remember that many sidecar rigs don't, but I always thought the off-road-ish ones did.
If there were absolutely anything to be afraid of, don't you think I would have worn pants?

I said I have a big stick.

would the fact that i picked this off a russian blog and part of the alt text read "kitai" alter your assessment? not being sarcastic or anything.

the blog had no explanation as to the origin of the pic other than that.

I'm not doubting that they did the wheel change, I've seen tons of images of that and I believe there are video on the youtube. I just want to know wether that CJ should have a brake on the sidecar-wheel, because if it should, this looks like they pulled our the innards for show. The uniforms look like PLA urban camouflage. Does kitai mean China?

I've got a Ural sidecar, which, except for the running lights, is exactly the same as the Chang Jiang. The spare wheel will fit any of the three wheels, so even though the sidecar doesn't use brakes, the wheel is ready for any position.

Yes, the wheel does.

the disc around the axle, on the sidecar, is to mount the brake shoes and cylinders on, so this bike is meant to have brakes on the sidecar,

However, we don't see the shoes and cylinders, so they must have been removed for the show.

hhhmmmm,....

while there is a backing plate there, that could conceivably have a braking mechanism attached, do you see any sign that one ever was ?
no shoe pivots, no sign of a cam (mechanical) or slave cylinder (hydraulic).

looks like a simple disc, perhaps meant to keep mud & crap out, more than anything else.
