Because the board got shutdown again because of a load of database, I had to fettle with the settings again.
As part of that, the server no longer stores what topics you have or haven't read.
IT IS STILL RECORDED!
But now, that information lives in a delicious cookie, rather than the forum database.

Upside: this should reduce the load of database.
Downside: if you use multiple devices to access the board, or you reject delicious cookies, you won't always have that information cookie. But the New Posts feature should take care of that.

Some unpleasant miscreant was firing incessant database queries at our server, which forced the Legal Department of our hosting company, via their Abuse subdivision, to shut us down. No I have none.
All I can do it button the hatches, and tighten up a few things. Such as time limits on how long you may take to compose a post and hit Debauch! As of 24/01/10, I've set that at 30 minutes for now.

104 degrees in Seattle

Post by Whiskeywrist » Wed Jul 29, 2009 6:11 pm

Never thought I'd live to see this!

And, would be quite happy to never see it again.

Neither work, or home, or any of the local restaurants/bars I frequent have AC.

(Upstairs at Hanta has got to be another ten degrees hotter, glad I'm at least downstairs- sucks to be Flatline!)

Sweat through the top half of my shirt by the end of the work day, and spend the rest of the time in trunks and shit else.

took a razor to my head, for maximum cooling.

I Sleep naked, sprawled, on top of the covers, with a fan full blast on me, and when I get up, there's a me shape in sweat on the sheet.

Cold beer and salads are all that sounds good.
(Do the math on that one, metabolism!)

Freakish, sprawling, dreams every night.

Too hot to ride.

And this after our crazy, snow filled winter!
What have we done to piss off our state?!

Just a bit of whining. Done now!

Hope you guys are having a far more moderate summer.

I've been in Miami for several weeks now, and the high barely hits 90 most days.

Something is off-kilter when you're over 100 in Seattle and I'm at 90 in Miami, several thousand miles south.

It could possibly be my fault.
I think it's the universe's way of getting me ready to work in Richland. It's in the high 90's to low 100's in the summer. And I just looked at the humidity levels because it's supposed to be the desert, but it's right on the Columbia, so the humidity is still around 30-40%. Bleh.

I like this weather, but I wish my bedroom was cooler at night. At least in Richland, everyone has A/C. Lots of pools too!! And if you don't mind a little radioactivity, there's the Columbia too.

Why the hell do I get the chills every time I go outside in this heat? Goosebumps and everything. Stupid backwards body... :/ It's fucking hot, not cold!!

I agree way too hot, though I am glad I spent some time in NC this month, the heat feels like desert heat to me. I want it to just cool down so I can get some work down on the bike...

It does suck to be me upstairs :( I'm skipping the gym this week. Rolling around with a buncha sweaty dudes doing BBJ doesn't sound like a great way to keep cool.

Rolling around with a buncha sweaty dudes in an air conditioned Vegas hotel room is pretty nice . . . but who can afford to do that more than a couple times a year, eh?

I escaped to Whidbey island to visit my parents. Near the water here is 10000% more bearable than the Oly haus.
